This position will report to ANC's Board of Directors.
ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Allen Neighborhood Center is a place-based nonprofit whose mission is to serve as a dynamic hub where Lansing Eastside neighbors access resources to improve their health and well-being; expand their capacity to seize job and entrepreneurial opportunities; create a strong sense of place, belonging, and community pride; and build a safe, sustainable, and thriving neighborhood.
JOB OVERVIEW ANC
is seeking a leader who will serve as an effective and faithful steward of ANC's legacy, maintain the organization's social entrepreneurial spirit, and inspire the trust, confidence, and respect of ANC's staff, the Eastside neighborhood, and partners throughout the Greater Lansing area. A successful candidate will be a strategic thinker and an inclusive, visionary leader with a passion for the Eastside neighborhood and ANC's values as a community organization that pursues neighbor-driven solutions. They will possess a demonstrated comfort level working with diverse populations, natural problem-solving abilities, a strong track record in nonprofit fundraising, and the ability to lead and inspire a highly capable staff of 15 team members.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership and Management Foster and maintain a culture of teamwork, mutual respect, and collaboration among staff Ensure that job descriptions are developed, regular performance evaluations are held, and that sound human resource practices are in place Build, lead, and retain an effective and diverse staff dedicated to the mission of ANC, and with the requisite skills to be successful in their work Fiscal Oversight and Fundraising Manage ANC assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses in a manner that reflects best financial management practices for nonprofits Work with ANC's Bookkeeper and Accountants to prepare, track, and adjust yearly operations budget and provide complete and accurate monthly reporting to the Board of Directors Collaborate with ANC's Associate Director to diversify revenue growth through grants, gifts, program income, and fundraising initiatives Communications and Public Relations Represent the programs and point of view of the organization, as well as the needs of Eastside neighbors to agencies, organizations, and the public Serve as the face of the organization, communicating ANC's work to strategically inspire philanthropic and partner support Deepen and refine all aspects of communications - from web presence to external relations - to strengthen and clarify the center's brand Program Development and Strategic Visioning Ensure ANC's programs and goals reflect and respond to the expressed needs, interests, and aspirations of Eastside neighbors Maintain programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent feedback systems to measure and track the center's overall impact In partnership with the Board, build a diverse and inclusive Board of Directors representative of the community that is highly engaged and willing to leverage and secure resources
QUALIFICATIONS
The Executive Director will be thoroughly committed to ANC's mission. All candidates should have a combination of educational and professional experiences that prepare them for this high-level executive role. This position requires strong team management capacities, a robust neighborhood engagement and planning focus, and effective interpersonal communication skills. Concrete demonstrable experiences and other qualifications include: Bachelor's degree plus at least 3-5 years at a senior management level or an equivalent combination of education and experience Excellent coalition-building skills with an ability to communicate and work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders; a persuasive negotiator able to achieve consensus amongst differing opinions A track record of securing funding, cultivating major donors, and creating new revenue streams Experience managing large, complex budgets, financial reporting, and compliance Proven ability to work closely with a Board of Directors, providing regular reports and implementing strategic decisions Commitment to Lansing's Eastside, its residents, stakeholders, as well as strategic partners throughout the Mid-Michigan region Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and evenings Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to flex communication styles for different kinds of audiences We believe that to serve our neighbors effectively, a diverse array of lived experiences and backgrounds must be centered in our staff. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The salary range for the position is $70,000 to $80,000, plus benefits, including generous paid time off, paid holidays, simple IRA retirement fund with 3% employer match, and employer-subsidized healthcare that includes vision and dental coverage.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The candidate selected for this position will primarily work on-site Lansing, Michigan. The work week is typically Mon-Fri 8am-5pm with some evening and weekends required for events, community engagement and work-related travel.
