Executive Director / Chief Dignity Officer About Project Outpour Project Outpour is a community-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting dignity and pathways to stability by providing free mobile shower access and hygiene services for unhoused neighbors. By meeting people where they are, Project Outpour creates a welcoming and safe space, ensuring that neighbors experiencing homelessness have access to essential hygiene resources and supportive relationships. While many of our neighbors are experiencing literal homelessness and seek all of our services, others are housing insecure or low income and are in need only of hygiene services. Through strong partnerships with local organizations, volunteers, and community members, Project Outpour works to address immediate needs while building pathways toward stability and hope. Position Overview Project Outpour is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Executive Director to lead the organization into its next phase of growth and impact. The Executive Director will serve as the organization's chief leader and public ambassador, responsible for strategic leadership, operational management, fundraising, and community engagement. Working closely with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will guide the organization's vision while strengthening programs, building sustainable funding streams, and expanding partnerships that support individuals experiencing homelessness in the Charlotte community. This role is ideal for a compassionate and entrepreneurial nonprofit leader who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about advancing dignity-centered services for our unhoused neighbors.
Key Responsibilities:
Organizational Leadership
  • Provide strategic leadership to advance the mission and long-term sustainability of Project Outpour.
  • Lead implementation of organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of compassion, respect, and community partnership. Program & Operations Management
  • Oversee the mobile shower and hygiene service program and ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Monitor program outcomes and evaluate impact.
  • Identify opportunities to expand service locations and program offerings. Fundraising & Development
  • Lead fundraising initiatives including individual giving, grants, and corporate partnerships.
  • Cultivate and steward relationships with donors and philanthropic partners.
  • Support and collaborate with the Board of Directors in meeting fundraising goals. Community Engagement
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and advocate for Project Outpour.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, service providers, and local stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization at community events and collaborative initiatives. Financial & Administrative Oversight
  • Oversee budgeting, financial management, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations and organizational policies.
  • Maintain effective systems for operations, volunteer engagement, and program tracking. Staff & Volunteer Leadership
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership to Operations Manager, ensuring alignment with organizations' goals, performance expectations, and operational standards.
  • Oversee the Marketing and Social Media position by providing strategic direction, approving key messaging and campaigns, monitoring performance metrics, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand standards.
  • Foster a mission-aligned and inclusive organizational culture.
  • Encourage leadership development within the team.
  • Oversee the Volunteer Program by setting strategic direction, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, supervising program leadership, and monitoring effectiveness, compliance, and resource use.
Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of leadership or management experience in nonprofit, social services, or community-based work.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, or donor engagement.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational leadership skills.
  • Genuine compassion for and desire to serve this vulnerable population
Preferred:
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or vulnerable populations.
  • Experience managing nonprofit programs and budgets.
  • Familiarity with the Charlotte nonprofit or social services landscape.
Pay:
$67,500.00 - $77,500.00 per year
