Full-Time, Exempt About The Conkling Center The Conkling Center is a nonprofit organization serving community members age 55+ in the greater Glens Falls region. We provide programs, transportation, information, and opportunities that help older adults remain active, connected, informed, and supported. We are a small, mission-driven team looking for someone who enjoys collaborative work, community engagement, and helping programs run well. Position Summary The Assistant Director supports the Executive Director in the leadership, administration, and daily operations of The Conkling Center. This is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, approachable, flexible, and comfortable balancing day-to-day details with larger organizational goals. The Assistant Director will assist with program oversight, staff and volunteer support, community partnerships, communications, development, compliance, and administrative systems. Key Responsibilities
- Support the Executive Director with daily operations, strategic priorities, policies, procedures, and internal systems.
- Help supervise, support, and coordinate staff and volunteers.
- Assist with program planning, implementation, evaluation, reporting, and service quality.
- Support budgeting, financial tracking, grant compliance, recordkeeping, and administrative reporting.
- Assist with fundraising, donor engagement, grant writing, sponsorships, events, and community partnerships.
- Support newsletters, social media, website updates, outreach materials, and other communications.
- Prepare materials and updates for Board meetings and support Board initiatives.
- Represent the organization in community and partner settings as needed.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, human services, public administration, social work, business administration, communications, or a related field preferred. At least three years of experience in nonprofit administration, program management, community services, or a related field. Supervisory, team leadership, or volunteer management experience preferred. Experience with grants, fundraising, communications, outreach, or nonprofit operations preferred. Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, Board members, donors, community partners, and the public. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort using databases, CRM systems, and technology platforms. Commitment to serving older adults and strengthening the community. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position is primarily office-based, with occasional attendance at community meetings, outreach events, fundraising events, and other off-site activities. Some evening and weekend availability may be required. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, use office equipment, communicate effectively, and occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
Compensation and Benefits Salary:
$62,500 - $64,000
