Job Description

Agape Cafe is seeking a dedicated Co-Director to help lead a long-standing Iowa City breakfast and hospitality ministry for neighbors facing food insecurity. Since 1993, the Cafe has served free, made-to-order Wednesday morning breakfasts in a welcoming setting where guests are treated with dignity and respect. This is a part-time hourly job-share position, averaging 40-50 hours per month at $26 per hour, without benefits. The new co-director will work alongside the current co-director to staff Tuesday preparation and Wednesday Cafe service two weeks per month, and share additional administrative, food coordination, volunteer, outreach, and partnership work. Key responsibilities Weekly cafe setup, operation, and cleanup on Tuesday afternoons and Wednesday mornings. Volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and support. Coordination of food donations and purchases with partners such as Table to Table, HACAP, and the Johnson County Food Access Network. Outreach to guests and community partners; support for communication and social media. Participation in fundraising and grant-related tasks as needed. Qualifications Experience in nonprofit work, community service, food programs, volunteer management, social services, public health, or a related field. Strong communication and organizational skills; comfort working with diverse groups of people. Commitment to hospitality, inclusion, and treating all guests and volunteers with dignity. Ability to lift 40 pounds and have or have access to a car.
Schedule Tuesday prep:
approximately 4-5 hours in the afternoon for food pickup, setup, and preparation.
Wednesday service:
approximately 5-6 hours beginning at 6:00 a.m. for breakfast service, volunteer support, and cleanup. Remaining hours are flexible and can be scheduled in coordination with the co-director and the needs of the Cafe.
