Job Description

ASECA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
http://www.secalumni.org/ The Association of Securities and Exchange Commission Alumni, Inc. (ASECA), a non-profit charitable organization located in Washington, DC, has an opening for an Executive Director. The Executive Director will serve as the lead administrative officer of the organization and provide support to the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with event planning experience who will bring new ideas to increase membership, take initiative to improve and update the ASECA website and to deliver a robust social media presence. The ED will manage the annual dinner held each year in Washington DC, assist with the organization of regional membership events, and manage ASECA's scholarship programs. This is a part-time, work-from-home position. Washington, DC candidates strongly preferred. The work will be cyclical with longer hours leading up to the annual dinner and one other significant DC-based event. Work Schedule & Compensation Part-Time Position (Average 20 Hours/Week) - $65,000
Annualized Compensation Duties and Responsibilities Functional :
Oversee the overall day-to-day operations and communications of ASECA and achievement of operational objectives, including necessary operational activities and filings for a non-profit organization; Prepare for Board meetings, including agendas and minutes; Organize and attend meetings of each of the Board's various committees; Process submissions for
ASECA SEC
staff scholarships; coordinate and oversee law school and SEC staff scholarships and Writing Competition; Work with other ASECA contractors and vendors to achieve strategic plan goals.
Financial :
Manage budget, including draft initial annual budget, and work closely with the bookkeeper and Treasurer on financial activities of ASECA; Manage required filings and organizational compliance requirements; Oversee achievement of financial objectives.
Events :
Develop detailed project plans for major annual events in cooperation with applicable committee chair; Direct and oversee the planning and execution of ASECA's Annual Dinner and annual Sporkin Scholarship event in Washington DC in cooperation with applicable committee chair; Assist with organization, member outreach and social media campaigns for regional activities across the country.
Membership :
Manage the membership database, including renewals and new member communication; Lead efforts to develop ideas to grow membership base, including engaging with the SEC related to departing employees (i.e., potential members);
Marketing and Communications :
Oversee ASECA brand redesign, website refresh and expansion of the organization's social media presence; Develop communication plans and related content for various events throughout the year - email campaigns, LinkedIn posts, programs, etc.; Develop communications plan to leverage social media to grow membership base. Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Strong finance, budgeting and business systems knowledge and experience; Strong technology skills; proven experience and comfort with developing professional social media communications and knowledge of general website implementation and maintenance; Proven experience in event planning and organizing; Past success working with a Board of Directors, with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships; Demonstrated marketing, public relations and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders; Self-directed and action-oriented; Experience and general knowledge of the financial services industry and of SEC's role and financial management preferred; Past experience with growing a member-based organization preferred; Strong communication skills; Exhibits consistent attention to detail and professionalism.
