Part-Time, opportunity for growth based on performance About Friends of Timberline Founded in 1975, Friends of Timberline (FOT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and conserving Timberline Lodge, a National Historic Landmark on Mount Hood. FOT protects the Lodge's historical integrity and communicates the spirit of its builders by providing counsel, raising funds, and coordinating community efforts to accomplish these goals. Position Summary The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive of Friends of Timberline and is responsible for advancing its mission through strategic leadership, fundraising, program development, and operational management. The ED will oversee preservation project proposals, educational programming, and community engagement initiatives, including grant writing for preservation efforts and organizing special events. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Organizational Management Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors. Oversee daily operations, including volunteer coordination, financial management, and compliance with nonprofit regulations. Foster a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture. Manage and supervise part-time office staff Fundraising & Grant Writing Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support preservation projects and programming. Write and manage grants, including those for restoration efforts and educational initiatives. Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community partners. Program Development & Event Coordination Plan and execute educational programs, such as lecture series and arts events, to engage the public and promote the Lodge's history and significance. Collaborate with artists, historians, and educators to develop content for events and programs. Evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements as needed. Preservation Project Oversight Coordinate preservation and restoration projects in partnership with stakeholders, including the U.S. Forest Service and R.L.K. and Company. Ensure projects align with FOT's mission and adhere to preservation standards. Manage project budgets, timelines, and reporting requirements Community Engagement & Public Relations Serve as the primary spokesperson for FOT, representing the organization to the public, media, and stakeholders. Familiarity with CRM software (currently using Bloomerang) Develop marketing and communication strategies to raise awareness of FOT's mission and programs. Build and maintain relationships with community members, volunteers, and partners. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, history, arts administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in nonprofit management, including fundraising and program development. Proven success in grant writing and securing funding from diverse sources. Strong knowledge of historic preservation practices and principles. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build consensus. Passion for cultural heritage, history, and community engagement.
