Primary Location Job Summary:
South Dakota Ag United is looking for an Executive Director to lead the organization in its mission to promote and advance farm and ranch families and rural communities in South Dakota via education and outreach to decision makers, consumers and the next generation. The Executive Director will oversee operations and report directly to the Ag United Board of Directors.
Location:
Remote position with flexible schedule (full time, part time, or contract).
About Ag United:
South Dakota Ag United is a coalition of farm organizations formed in 2005 with a goal of keeping family farms and ranches growing. Coalition members including representatives from South Dakota Cattlemen's Association, South Dakota Corn Growers Association, South Dakota Soybean Associates, South Dakota Farm Bureau Federation, South Dakota Pork Producers, South Dakota Dairy Producers, and the South Dakota Poultry Industries Association.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategies to achieve the organization's goals and objectives. Oversee the corporate requirements of the nonprofit organization. Maintain financial records for the organization to ensure appropriate tax reporting. Establish annual budget, subject to approval of the board. Lead efforts to obtain funding necessary to support the organization's programs and initiatives. Manage day to day operations of the organization. Coordinate and lead activities of selected vendors. Develop, lead consensus building and implement strategies to achieve the organization's goals and objectives. Represent Ag United at meetings, events, and to the media. Oversee organization communications (PR campaign, website, social media, newsletters, etc.)
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business administration, non-profit management, or a related field. Leadership experience, preferably in non-profit organizations or comparable equivalent experience. Proven financial management skills, including budgeting, financial reporting, and fundraising. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills. Ability to work independently and remotely; experience managing remote teams and contractors, if applicable. Knowledge of South Dakota agriculture, its stakeholders, and leaders. Organized with time management, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Why Join Us?
