Job Description

MVRF is a citizen support group of the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge (MVNWR). The friends group works in partnership with the MVNWR to support a thriving urban refuge through education, conservation, and nature-based activities. The Executive Director will work with the board in achieving its objectives to fundraise; create opportunities for youth from under-resourced communities to engage with nature; promote refuge programs and advocate for local environmental issues; and support volunteers in a variety of capacities. This position can provide an office space for the role. Working from home is also an option.
Job responsibilities:
Oversee day-to-day operations and management Perform all grant writing, management and reporting, including federal and state funding programs Maintain best practices for nonprofits, ensure compliance w/state and federal regulations Manage day-to-day financial management, supporting accountant on monthly and annual reports Support board of directors & committees, including facilitating meetings/communication Work with the board on short-and long-term planning Set strategy, fundraising goals and annual budgets for the organization Maintain effective communication and coordination with a wide range of community partners, including Refuge staff, partner agencies and corporate funders Manage fundraising through community organizations, annual campaigns, Give to the Max Day and other means to meet financial goals Grow and diversify membership Event management and support, including volunteer coordination Manage communication, public relations and marketing of the
Friends Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor ' s degree or 5 years of relevant experience Demonstrated leadership and management abilities Strong networking and interpersonal skills Cultural competence and a commitment to racial justice Excellent communication and organizational skills Ability to work well independently and as part of a team Proactive self-starter and creative problem solver
Preferred Experience:
