Lead the next chapter of mental health impact in Central Texas. NAMI Central Texas is seeking a bold, execution-focused Executive Director to strengthen operations, expand community partnerships, and drive sustainable growth for an organization at the forefront of mental health advocacy and support. This is a rare opportunity to build on a strong foundation and shape how individuals and families access critical, life-changing resources across the region. Serving Travis and Williamson Counties, NAMI Central Texas is focused on delivering reliable, high-impact programs while building strong partnerships across healthcare, education, and the broader community. About the Role NAMI Central Texas is seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Executive Director to guide the organization into its next phase of impact, sustainability, and growth. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic and hands-on leader to build on a strong foundation and help shape the future of mental health support in the community. The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in strengthening organizational capacity, advancing financial resilience, and expanding NAMI Central Texas's position as a trusted, non-clinical partner within the broader healthcare ecosystem. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this leader will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by increasing access to support, education, and advocacy for individuals and families affected by mental health conditions. Key Leadership Priorities & Core Responsibilities NAMI Central Texas is seeking an Executive Director who combines strategic focus with strong execution to drive measurable community impact and organizational sustainability. Stabilize Operations & Build Trust Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of core programs while strengthening credibility with volunteers, partners, and the community through reliable execution. Strengthen Access to Support Services Position navigation and family support as a clear, accessible entry point by improving helpline effectiveness, referral pathways, and program accessibility. Expand Healthcare & Community Partnerships Develop and deepen partnerships with healthcare providers, hospitals, and community organizations to increase referrals and extend program reach. Activate and Grow the Volunteer Base Rebuild and strengthen the volunteer model through effective recruitment, onboarding, training, and engagement aligned with organizational needs. Drive Revenue Growth & Financial Sustainability Lead diversified fundraising efforts across individual giving, grants, partnerships, and events while ensuring disciplined financial management and resource allocation. Lead Organizational Execution Translate strategy into clear operating priorities, metrics, and accountability to ensure consistent performance and continuous improvement. Coordinating with NAMI Texas and the NAMI National Organization on programming, initiatives, and reporting. NAMI Central Texas is an affiliate and these relationships matter operationally. Develop Team & Culture Build and support a high-performing, mission-driven team culture grounded in accountability, collaboration, and impact. Partner with the Board of Directors Maintain strong alignment with the Board through clear communication, effective governance, and shared ownership of strategy and performance.
Experience and Skills:
Who You Are The ideal candidate is a disciplined, hands-on leader who brings both operations rigor and fundraising capability. Required Experience Proven senior leadership experience - 5-10 years nonprofit leadership Demonstrated success generating significant revenue through fundraising, partnerships, or business development A track record of executing strategy and delivering measurable, sustained results Strong financial leadership, including ownership of budgets, forecasting, and resource allocation Proven ability to lead small teams with limited resources while driving measurable outcomes. Experience working closely with a Board of Directors Ability to represent an organization externally with credibility across funders, partners, and community stakeholders Bachelor's degree required, with preference for an MBA or graduate degree in management, nonprofit administration, or a related field. Preferred Qualifications Leadership experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or adjacent mission-driven sector Familiarity with community-based or volunteer-driven models Experience navigating complex stakeholder environments (e.g., funders, public sector, healthcare systems) Personal or professional connection to mental health
