Job Description

Executive Director Belton Center for the Arts - Belton, South Carolina The Belton Center for the Arts is seeking an energetic, organized, and community-focused Executive Director to lead our nonprofit arts organization into its next chapter of growth. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors, volunteers, artists, donors, members, and community partners to advance the mission of promoting arts education, exhibitions, and cultural enrichment throughout our region. Position Summary The Executive Director serves as the administrator of the organization and is responsible for managing daily operations, financial stewardship, fundraising, community engagement, volunteer coordination, grant administration, programming support, and implementation of board-approved policies and strategic goals. The Executive Director works under the direction of the Board of Directors and is accountable for the effective, transparent, and sustainable management of the organization. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Administration Manage the day-to-day operations of the Belton Center for the Arts. Implement policies and strategic goals established by the Board of Directors. Maintain organizational records and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, governing documents, and bylaws. Maintain and organize organizational records including contracts, donor records, grant files, membership records, passwords, website access information, and other organizational assets. Prepare monthly written reports and updates for the Board of Directors regarding finances, programming, fundraising activities, memberships, grants, and operational matters. Ensure efficient administration of programs, exhibitions, facilities, and organizational resources. Financial Management Work closely with the Treasurer and Board of Directors to develop and manage annual budgets. Monitor revenues and expenses and maintain accurate financial records. Ensure adherence to established financial controls and procedures. Safeguard organizational assets and provide timely financial information to the Treasurer and Board. Ensure timely payment of bills and proper handling of organizational funds. Assist with annual audits, tax filings, and financial reporting requirements. Fundraising & Development Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, foundations, members, and community partners. Research, prepare, submit, and monitor grant applications and reporting requirements. Coordinate fundraising events, sponsorship opportunities, membership campaigns, and donor engagement activities. Support membership growth, donor retention, and long-term development efforts. Programs & Events Oversee exhibitions, classes, workshops, camps, and special events. Coordinate instructors, volunteers, artists, and event support personnel. Ensure programs align with the mission and goals of the organization. Promote community participation and accessibility in all Art Center programs. Volunteer Management Recruit, train, coordinate, support, and recognize volunteers. Foster a positive and collaborative volunteer culture that advances the organization's mission. Community Relations & Marketing Serve as a positive and professional representative of the Belton Center for the Arts. Maintain relationships with local businesses, schools, government agencies, civic organizations, and community leaders. Oversee marketing efforts, social media, newsletters, website updates, and public communications. Promote the Art Center's programs, events, exhibitions, and fundraising initiatives throughout the community and surrounding region. Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent professional experience considered. Experience in nonprofit management, business administration, arts administration, fundraising, or a related field. Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Experience managing budgets and financial reporting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a Board of Directors. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email platforms, and basic financial software. Preferred Qualifications Grant writing and grant management experience. Experience with nonprofit accounting software such as QuickBooks. Event planning and volunteer management experience. Experience working with nonprofit boards and community organizations. Experience with membership management and donor databases. Passion for the arts, education, and community development. Compensation Full-time position averaging 35 to 40 hours per week. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. Occasional evening and weekend attendance required for board meetings, exhibitions, special events, and community programs.
