Job Description
Knowledge of:
Principles of AMI infrastructure design, installation, programming, operations, and maintenance Principles and practices of AMI systems integration, public administration, workflow, and configuration Data quality standards and reporting methods, techniques, and procedures Basic principles and practices of budget and contract preparation and administration Principles of providing functional direction and training Principles of project planning, monitoring, implementation, and evaluation Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and procedures relevant to assigned areas of responsibility Principles and procedures of record keeping Basic and advanced mathematic and statistical techniques Modern equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination, including computers and software programs relevant to work performed Effective customer service techniques Ability to: Monitor AMI system operational effectiveness, reliability, and security vulnerabilities, promptly addressing any identified issues or concerns to ensure optimal performance Read, analyze, and interpret AMI data, specifications, and manuals. Define issues, analyze user and customer problems, evaluate alternatives, and develop sound conclusions and recommendations Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation and operating instructions, facilitating user training on AMI applications and hardware functionality Plan, organize, and coordinate the work of assigned staff Effectively provide staff leadership and work direction Understand, interpret, and apply all pertinent laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures, and standards relevant to work performed Understand the organization and operation of the City and of outside agencies as necessary to assume assigned responsibilities Prepare clear and concise written and oral reports and recommendations Perform advanced mathematical and statistical calculations Maintain accurate logs, records, and written records of work performed Plan and organize work to meet changing priorities and deadlines Effectively use computer systems, software applications relevant to work performed, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks Provide effective customer service Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with City employees and the public Work with persons from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds as well as a variety of work styles, personalities, and approaches Supervise and train staff Keep abreast of current developments in area(s) of specialtyQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.Experience:
Two years of recent, paid work experience which has included performing research, analysis, report writing, and administrative staff assistance tasks. One year must include experience working with AMI systems, automated operations and water meter reading processes, or water usage and billing data.Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed using a computer primarily indoors in a home or office environment, in accordance with the City's Telework/Flexible Workplace Policy, with frequent interruptions. Office work may require sitting for prolonged periods of time and using a computer keyboard and screen. The incumbent may be required to work in confined areas. Off-site assignments and irregular work hours are occasionally required. Physical demands may include kneeling, bending, stooping, reaching and grasping. How toApply:

If fewer than three qualified City employees pass the examination, the appointing authority, in accordance with the City's civil service rules and regulations, can decline to use a promotional list, in which case a promotional list will not be established for this position.Background Investigation:
