Healthcare Investment Banking Associate (M&A Focus)
Location:
Chicago, IL Overview The firm is seeking a highly motivated Investment Banking Associate to join its Healthcare group in Chicago, with a primary focus on Mergers & Acquisitions. The Associate will play an integral role in the execution of complex M&A transactions, advising corporate clients, private equity sponsors, and founder-led businesses across the healthcare sector, including healthcare services, life sciences, medical devices, and HCIT. This role offers meaningful deal execution responsibility, significant exposure to senior bankers and clients, and the opportunity to develop deep sector expertise in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Supports and leads day-to-day execution of sell-side and buy-side M&A transactions Builds and reviews detailed financial models, including operating models, LBO analyses, and merger models Performs valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow (DCF), comparable companies, and precedent transactions Prepares confidential information memoranda (CIMs), management presentations, buyer lists, and other transaction materials Manages due diligence processes, including coordination of data rooms and third-party advisors (legal, accounting, etc.) Interfaces directly with clients, financial sponsors, and counterparties throughout the transaction lifecycle Assists in negotiation processes and supports senior bankers during key stages of deal execution Oversees Analysts, providing guidance on financial modeling, analysis, and deliverables Qualifications 2-5 years of relevant M&A experience in investment banking or transaction advisory Healthcare sector experience preferred, particularly in healthcare services, life sciences, or medical technology Strong financial modeling and valuation skillset with experience building fully integrated models Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint Ability to manage multiple concurrent M&A processes in a fast-paced environment Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills High attention to detail and strong work ethic Bachelor's degree required; MBA or equivalent is a plus Preferred Attributes Strong interest in healthcare industry trends, including consolidation dynamics, reimbursement models, and regulatory considerations Experience working with private equity clients and founder-owned businesses Demonstrated ability to take ownership of workstreams and drive execution Strong interpersonal skills and ability to operate effectively in a client-facing role Team-oriented mindset with the ability to mentor and develop junior professionals
