Role Overview:
This position plays a key role in supporting INDOT's Utilities & Railroad Division while also providing critical analytical, reporting, and data‑quality support to the Real Estate Division. The role is responsible for developing dashboards and reporting tools, preparing and validating complex datasets, maintaining data governance standards, and supporting system workflows that impact statewide project delivery. Top skills needed include advanced data analysis and visualization, strong problem‑solving abilities, and the capacity to manage complex information across multiple systems. This position is with INDOT's Central Office. 
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education and work experience. Use our Compensation Calculator to view the total compensation package. A Day in the
Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:

Analyze business processes, business rules, methods of data acquisition and data application for advancement of business practices, operational performance enhancement and resource allocation.

Preside over methodic, non-routine examinations of office specific data through advanced analysis routines, queries, and scripts.

Present the findings/recommendations through the development of custom reports, charts and maps.

Work with Information Technology on the administration of analysis packages including data loading/unloading, error message interpretation, SQL statement development, script updating, mass editing of datasets and software database performance analysis.

Manage all the activities of subordinates including interviewing/selecting applications, assigning work, scheduling training, evaluating, and administering disciplinary action.

Investigate new/existing technologies and business practices for practical and feasible implementation into divisional workflow and work with Information Technology for implementation.

Recruit, select, onboard, and train employees to ensure role responsibilities and expectations are clearly understood while providing opportunities to continue professional development.

Set expectations, measure progress, provide ongoing feedback, and evaluate the performance of employees. Ensure work adheres to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures. This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

What You'll Need for
Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:

Broad knowledge of operational, mathematical, analytical and/or statistical research techniques. Broad knowledge of multiple regression or multivariate analysis, measurement and testing, and interview methods and questionnaire design. Ability to communicate and coordinate technical needs. Ability to understand and comprehend instructions dealing with technical and abstract theories. Ability to determine proper research methods to use, collect appropriate data and draw conclusions. Extensive knowledge of the agency mission and administrative policies.

Extensive knowledge of computer and software programs and the ability to utilize these skills.

Ability to take abstract concepts and formulate physical models. Effective communication skills. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to research and document findings. Ability to formulate sound recommendations and make appropriate decisions with consideration of potential impact on agency/division statewide. Ability to effectively prioritize a variety of projects/functions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management. Ability to work independently. Ability to organize thoughts and ideas in a logical manner.

Ability to plan and organize the work of other employees.
