Job Summary:
Position Description & Qualifications Serco is seeking an experienced Black Belt Process Improvement Specialist who will support the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) Improvement Sciences Directorate by leading and enabling Continuous Process Improvement initiatives across Navy Medicine. This role applies Lean Six Sigma (LSS), Get Real Get Better (GRGB), Project Management, and Knowledge Management methodologies to drive measurable improvements in operational efficiency, effectiveness, and stakeholder satisfaction in support of Navy Medicine's mission. This is a HYBRID opportunity in San Diego, CA. This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain your active DoD Secret level clearance. This position is also contingent upon contract award. The position plays a critical role in standardizing processes, reducing variability, eliminating waste, and enabling data-driven decision-making across all echelons of Navy Medicine, including BUMED, NMFDC, NMFL, NMFP, and subordinate commands within BSO-18. The Black Belt Process Improvement Specialist also serves as a mentor, instructor, and technical authority, ensuring alignment with Navy Medicine strategic initiatives and adherence to uniform documentation and improvement standards. In this role, you will: Lead and support Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) projects using Lean Six Sigma and Get Real Get Better (GRGB) methodologies. Apply DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) to improve existing processes and reduce variability. Utilize DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify) for new process development and technology enablement. Facilitate Rapid Improvement Events (RIE), including pre-event planning, event execution, and post-event sustainment. Integrate GRGB principles with Lean Six Sigma methodologies in accordance with the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Black Belt Book of Knowledge. Analyze workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for standardization and optimization. Develop and implement process improvement strategies that reduce cost and improve stakeholder satisfaction. Conduct detailed process mapping and quantitative analysis. Produce formal reports documenting current-state processes, identified inefficiencies, and recommended improvements. Develop optimized future-state workflows and support implementation with stakeholders. Foster a culture of continuous improvement across all organizational levels. Deliver professional development and training courses in in-person, virtual, and asynchronous formats. Conduct monthly mentoring sessions and verify knowledge transfer for belt certification candidates. Review improvement project submissions for technical accuracy and strategic alignment. Validate project scope, measurable outcomes, and compliance with Navy Medicine documentation standards. To be successfull in this role, you will have: Bachelor's degree required; Business Administration or Engineering preferred. Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience, including Continuous Process Improvement and Lean Six Sigma experience in the healthcare industry. An active, adjudicated SECRET security clearance documented in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) is required to be considered.
