Aggregates Area Manager

Area Manager - Aggregates The Area Manager leads multiple quarry operations within a defined region, typically producing 1M+ tons annually. This role focuses on developing plant leaders, driving operational consistency, and aligning operations with sales and construction to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality results. We're looking for a people-first leader who builds strong teams, takes ownership of performance, and approaches challenges with a thoughtful, solutions-oriented mindset. This position is based in Birmingham, AL and will report to the Division Vice President - Aggregates.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead, coach, and develop plant managers, building a culture of accountability and growth Ensure safe, consistent, and efficient operations across multiple sites Drive cost performance and support budgeting and financial accountability Partner with sales and construction teams to align production with demand Maintain high standards for quality, process control, and continuous improvement Improve equipment reliability through strong maintenance practices Support and execute capital projects that enhance operational performance

Requirements:

5-10+ years of experience in aggregates, mining, asphalt, or heavy civil operations Proven leadership experience managing multiple teams or sites Strong understanding of, or ability to quickly learn, plant operations, production processes, and cost drivers Demonstrated ability to develop people, build teams, and drive performance Experience with budgeting, financial performance, and operational planning Ability to think critically and develop creative, practical solutions to operational challenges Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments Willingness to travel regularly between plant locations Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field Experience working cross-functionally with sales and construction teams Background in continuous improvement or operational excellence initiatives Why you should work for
