Brief Job Description:
The Journeyman Mission Systems Operator is responsible for the operation, monitoring, and sustainment of mission systems supporting logistics and operational activities across multiple environments. This position operates tactical radios, data links, communications equipment, and other mission systems associated with platform solutions. The Journeyman Mission Systems Operator serves as a key operational contributor, ensuring mission systems remain functional, available, and effective in support of mission execution while coordinating closely with platform operators, logistics personnel, maintenance teams, and other stakeholders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate and monitor mission systems, including tactical radios, data links, communications equipment, and related technologies in support of operational and logistics missions. Support mission execution through the effective employment of mission systems and communications capabilities. Monitor system performance and identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues affecting operational effectiveness. Coordinate with platform operators, maintenance personnel, and support teams to maintain mission system readiness and availability. Conduct pre-mission, mission, and post-mission system checks and evaluations. Maintain and document mission system operating status, discrepancies, maintenance actions, and mission activities. Support troubleshooting efforts and implement corrective actions to restore system functionality during operations. Ensure mission systems are configured and operated in accordance with established procedures, requirements, and operational objectives. Assist in developing recommendations to improve mission system performance, reliability, and operational effectiveness. Support training activities and provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel as required. Maintain familiarity with mission requirements, system interfaces, communications architectures, and operational procedures. Participate in mission planning, operational briefings, and readiness reviews. Ensure mission systems effectively support logistics operations across multiple operational environments. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Active Secret Security Clearance. Minimum of 3 to 10 years of experience supporting mission systems, communications systems, military operations, logistics operations, aviation systems, information systems, or a related field. Experience operating tactical radios, data links, communications equipment, or similar mission-related systems. Working knowledge of mission system operations, troubleshooting, and readiness processes. Ability to identify and resolve operational issues in dynamic environments. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and mission system software tools. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Communications, Aviation, Logistics, or a related field. Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense programs. Experience with tactical communications networks, command and control systems, or mission planning systems. Familiarity with aviation, maritime, ground, cyber, or unmanned systems operations. Experience supporting deployed, expeditionary, or OCONUS operations. Technical certifications related to communications, networking, or mission systems.
Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility to include but not limited to: bending, reaching, climbing, turning, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distances may be required. Must be able to lift, move, and transport items frequently over 10 pounds.
Work Environment:
Generally, work is conducted in an inside office environment, but may also involve some outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be in an office or cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting.
