JOB DESCRIPTION
As a Terminal Manager at Atomic Transport, you will be responsible for executing the daily, weekly, and monthly goals for the operations, safety, and recruitment teams at our terminals. You will serve as the bridge between local operations and the headquarters office, by communicating day-to-day production, maintaining our hauling and loading fleets, addressing safety concerns, executing recruiting needs, and managing local customer relationships. Our Phoenix terminal consists of 50 units divided between 2 transfer stations. The Terminal Manager will be responsible for the loading, hauling, and maintenance operations at both sites.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Hauling Operations:
Ensure proper start to the day, including proper clock-in procedure and pre-trips. Implement and oversee pre-trip and post-trip procedures. Ensure all units and drivers are DOT compliant with correct documentation. Perform all daily and weekly driver scheduling to include planning of time off. Track drivers loads and tailor hauling operation to maximize efficiency. Gather daily paperwork from drivers and record for payroll submission. Compile driver paperwork to illustrate daily production. Communicate with landfill when access is not safe or adequate.
Loading Operations:
Ensure proper start to the day, including proper clock-in procedure and pre-trips. Implement and oversee pre-trip and post-trip procedures. Perform all daily and weekly operator scheduling to include planning of time off. Oversee proper and safe loading practices. Ensure all units are pre-loaded for the following day, when applicable. Ensure all loading equipment is receiving proper daily maintenance. Ensure all safety equipment is always operating on all loading equipment. Execute monthly safety and productivity training.
Maintenance Operations:
Oversee and facilitate maintenance and repairs. Ensure all units and drivers are DOT compliant with correct documentation. Maintain a fleet tire inflation plan to company expectations. Gather work order paperwork from mechanics and submit for filing. Maintain up to date maintenance excel spreadsheets. Execute monthly site inspections. Review weekly tire and parts inventory. Inspect cabs weekly to ensure driver/operator responsibility. Facilitate vendor and contractor payment through utilizing the PO system requirements. Communicate with the accounts payable team to ensure all vendor/contractor information has been acquired and is up to date.
Safety:
Facilitate training of new and current employees. Monitor the completion of all weekly and monthly interval and vertical alliance training. Review weekly speeding data. Train all staff in hauling, loading, and maintenance safety expectations. Take ample time to analyze each part of your operation and identify potential areas of concern. Facilitate monthly, bi-weekly, or weekly safety meetings with drivers and loading staff.
Recruiting:
Analyze operations to identify areas of need and hire staff. Communicate needs to corporate recruiting team. Execute interviews and review applications. Schedule and manage all training and on-boarding. Ensure all new hires have all the necessary paperwork prior to their start date. Oversee new hire training and transition in work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
Valid CDL A (Preferred) High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or waste industries. Experience in managing operations, safety, and maintenance teams. Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work autonomously and make independent decisions. Successful work history in handling confidential personal data. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Strong team player and commitment to promoting Atomic's values. Ability to multi-task and produce results in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, general knowledge of mobile device use and applications. Strong problem-solving skills.

The following environmental/atmospheric working conditions are commonly, but not always, associated with the performance of this position. The actual working conditions will vary. Exposure to residential, industrial and commercial waste. Occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions and loud noises Ability to lift / carry 50 pounds up to 5 feet. Frequently lift / carry up to 50 pounds. Sitting, climbing, overhead reaching, balancing, kneeling, and crawling. Frequent standing, walking, stair climbing, stooping, and firm grasping. Constant forward reaching and simple grasping.
