This role provides oversight of clinical operations, ensures sustained regulatory and accreditation compliance, and leads employed staff, contracted nurses, and office personnel in the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The Director of Operations, RN is accountable for compliance with California Department of Public Health (CDPH) regulations, applicable CMS Conditions of Participation, and nationally recognized accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, ACHC, URAC). Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities Director of Nursing & Clinical Oversight Serve as the Director of Nursing (DON) on record for the California-licensed home health agency and related clinical services. Ensure all nursing services are delivered in accordance with: California Nurse Practice Act California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 22 CDPH Home Health Agency requirements Conditions of Participation (CMS), as applicable Provide clinical oversight for all nursing services, including employed and contracted nurses. Approve and maintain nursing policies, procedures, standing orders, and clinical protocols. Oversee clinical competency validation, orientation, ongoing education, and performance evaluation of nursing staff. Operational Leadership Direct daily operations across specialty pharmacy support services and home health clinical programs. Collaborate with pharmacy leadership, providers, case management, intake, and administrative teams to ensure coordinated care delivery. Oversee staffing models, contractor management, scheduling, and coverage to meet patient and regulatory needs. Monitor operational performance indicators and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation Maintain continuous readiness for CDPH, CMS, and accreditation surveys . Serve as the primary clinical liaison for: California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Accrediting organizations (Joint Commission, ACHC, URAC, as applicable) Lead survey preparation, on-site survey management, and corrective action planning. Ensure compliant documentation, plan of care processes, supervision visits, and clinical records management. Quality Assurance & Risk Management Lead the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. Monitor patient outcomes, adverse events, infection control indicators, and patient satisfaction. Investigate incidents, implement corrective actions, and ensure risk mitigation strategies are in place. Ensure infection prevention and control practices meet California and federal requirements. People Leadership & Culture Provide direct leadership and supervision to clinical leaders, nursing staff, contractors, and office staff as assigned. Support recruitment, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and disciplinary processes. Foster a culture of compliance, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Ensure staff maintain required licensure, certifications, and ongoing competency. Required Qualifications Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree (MSN, MBA, MHA) strongly preferred. Minimum 5-7 years of progressive nursing leadership experience, including Director of Nursing or comparable leadership responsibility. Demonstrated experience in California home health, specialty pharmacy support, infusion therapy, or related care models. Proven knowledge of Title 22 regulations, CDPH oversight, and accreditation standards. Experience leading regulatory surveys and corrective action plans. Preferred Experience & Competencies Prior experience serving as DON on record for a California-licensed agency. Familiarity with accreditation organizations (Joint Commission, ACHC, URAC). Strong understanding of contract nursing models and multidisciplinary care teams. Operational acumen, strong judgment, and ability to lead in a highly regulated environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Physical & Travel Requirements Ability to work in an office and clinical environment. Occasional travel within California for clinical oversight, site visits, or regulatory meetings.
Pay:
$155,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year
