- Temporary, Part-time, Seasonal Position Overview This on-call role includes working scheduled tasting room shifts, winery events, and additional hospitality support as needed.
The primary recurring shift will be the first Monday of each month, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts, weekends, and occasional event support based on business needs. Typical shifts take place during tasting room operating hours (approximately 12 PM-6 PM), with occasional evening event support as needed. The Tasting Room Associate supports the Estate Director and Hospitality Manager in daily operations and plays a key role as a brand ambassador and storyteller for Domaine Messier. customer understanding and interest Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing questions, resolving concerns promptly, and creating a welcoming atmosphere Key Responsibilities Hospitality & Tasting Room Operations Provide exceptional, personalized hospitality to all guests Lead guided wine tastings and communicate the story of Domaine Messier, our wines, and the Carmel Coast Manage reservations and support the tasting room calendar using POS/reservation systems Process wine sales and tasting transactions accurately Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming tasting room environment aligned with brand standards Capture guest information in POS/CRM systems to support relationship-building and future outreach Assist with inventory transfers and deliveries from the winery Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) & Sales Educate guests on wine club membership options and actively support wine club signups Contribute to DTC sales goals through thoughtful, guest-focused salesmanship Support customer retention through relationship-building and follow-up opportunities Events & Brand Representation Assist with winery events, including setup, service, and breakdown Represent Domaine Messier at events and community activations as needed Qualifications (Required) 21+ years of age Must have or be willing to obtain a California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification Availability to work the first Monday of each month, along with occasional weekends, afternoons, and event shifts as needed Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Strong communication skills and a professional, positive attitude Local to the Carmel, CA area or surrounding region Preferred Experience Hospitality, tasting room, or wine industry experience Confidence in sales and customer engagement Familiarity with winery platforms such as OrderPort and VinoShipper, including shipping compliance Experience with tools such as Google Workspace, QuickBooks, or Mailchimp Wine education (WSET, CMS, or similar) Desired Attributes Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a small team environment Highly organized with strong attention to detail Adaptable and able to multitask in a dynamic setting Passion for wine, storytelling, and creating elevated guest experiences Genuine interest in building community through hospitality What We Offer Competitive hourly pay plus tips Wine club signup incentive program Employee wine discounts Opportunity to grow within a developing hospitality program A collaborative, team-oriented work environment Work Location In person
