The job overview for the Director of Arena Operations is to sell the space with various events, manage the budget and planning phase, execute the event with customer service and efficiencies as a priority to ultimately drive revenue and profit.
PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS
Direct the sales aspects of the Arena by working with various agencies, promoters, groups and collaborators to hold events in the space. Interview, hire, train, recommend performance evaluations, resolve problems, provide open communication and recommend discipline and/or termination when appropriate. Ensure training programs are conducted regularly, and Commerce standards of performance are met. Give guidance and counsel staff toward improvement. Manage the development and administration of the overall departments budget. Coordinate with the city along with all outside vendors/partners to sell the space and execute events. Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients. Internally promote Commerce programs. Oversee facility arrangements with concessionaires and vendors, directs and monitors the work of contractors, engineers and housekeeping when it pertains to events. Responsible for health and safety compliance. Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear directions to the staff. Stay informed about upcoming events, concerts, tradeshows etc in the region and utilize these events to enhance the arena operation. Organize and/or attend scheduled meetings pertaining. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned. SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
Work Experience Required :
5+ years experience as Manager of Arena Operations or 1+ years as a Director of Arena Events. Has worked 100+ events. Has a proven track record of achieving revenue goals and building strong client relationships Education:
Degree in Sales or Marketing, Business Management or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Licenses:
A casino work permit from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The Director of Arena Operations is responsible for overseeing the Hotel Sales & Events department processes. Regarding the supervision of employees, however, this position is limited to making suggestions or recommendations regarding the staff to the Chief Information Officer, who holds a Key Employee or Officer License. The Chief Information Officer is the position that makes managerial decisions on behalf of Hotel Sales & Events department. The Director of Arena Operations understands and acknowledges he/she cannot take any action that would require a Key Employee license. Other Skills and Abilities:
Must have the ability to communicate in English. Self-starting personality with an even disposition. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times. Can communicate well with guests. Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player. Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors. Extensive skill in development and delivery of sales presentations. Ability to access, understand and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system. Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts. Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functions. Performance Standards Customer Satisfaction :
