Job Description
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing and warehouse operations in a high-mix, low-to-medium volume EMS environment. This role focuses on driving performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and People while ensuring smooth production flow, strong operational discipline, and on-time customer delivery. This position works closely with production, engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to improve efficiency, maintain schedule adherence, and support continuous improvement efforts. The Operations Manager will oversee production supervisors, manage workforce performance, maximize equipment utilization, and help maintain compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and offers a clear growth path into a Director-level position.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and support production supervisors and frontline teams across manufacturing and warehouse operations. Drive daily production activities to meet schedule, quality, and delivery targets. Monitor operations across SMT, assembly, testing, secondary operations, and warehouse functions. Improve production efficiency, labor utilization, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE). Support workforce development through coaching, training, and performance management. Work closely with planning teams to improve production scheduling using ERP/MRP systems such as JobPack. Implement and sustain lean manufacturing practices including 5S, waste reduction, visual management, and process standardization. Track operational performance through KPIs, dashboards, and production reporting tools. Resolve production issues related to materials, quality, equipment, or scheduling. Partner with Engineering on new product introductions, process improvements, and manufacturability initiatives. Coordinate with Supply Chain and Materials teams to ensure inventory accuracy and material availability. Ensure compliance withISO, AS9100, ISO
13485, ITAR, and other regulated manufacturing standards. Promote a safe working environment and ensure adherence to company safety policies. Lead continuous improvement initiatives including root cause analysis and corrective actions.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or related field. Minimum 7 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience within the EMS industry. Strong understanding of SMT, through-hole, assembly, test, and box build manufacturing processes. Experience with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly preferred. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Experience working in regulated manufacturing environments such asISO 9001, ISO
13485, AS9100, or ITAR preferred.Pay:
