This is a hands-on role that will have a meaningful impact on the business and allow the right candidate to grow and increase their role in our company.
Job Description:
Food quality and safety is a priority at Gelato Giuliana. As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for overseeing food safety, quality control, logistics, procurement, machinery maintenance. You will lead the team to fulfill the production schedule, develop, implement, and maintain robust food safety and quality control programs. Additionally, you will be responsible for regulatory compliance, machinery management, logistics and ingredient procurement. As the operational lead you will be managing the warehouse team, assisting the Director of Production in managing the production team while coordinating with the office team and upper management. We are looking for demonstrated leadership, people management and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Manage production and warehouse teams including scheduling, logistics and, performance management. Develop and adhere to production schedule and ensure resources are assigned to meet schedule. Procure and manage ingredients and packaging to par levels. Steward incoming sales orders, delivery appointments and delivery scheduling. Manage all machinery maintenance, facilities maintenance and repair orders. Effectively manage vendor relationships. Effectively communicate to staff the production priorities, quality standards, regulatory compliance reporting and company policies including enforcement. Ensure that all records and documents are maintained in an organized fashion in compliance with FDA requirements for issues of traceability, COO labeling, product and facility testing results, microbiological testing results, allergen control and general food safety Manage activities related to audits and achieving various certifications. Must be physically able to lift 20-40 pound items and fluent in English. Spanish language speaking skills a plus.
Requirements:
Relevant college degree preferred but not necessary; extensive experience in production in the food industry can substitute for formal education. Minimum 7 years of experience in food processing and packaging, with a strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and SOPs. Experience with GMP, BRC or SQF audits Proven track record of supervising and managing personnel for a minimum of 5 years. Basic understanding of production machinery. Strong organization, prioritization, communication, record-keeping, teambuilding, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills Demonstrated ability to lead by example, promoting a culture of accountability, respect, teamwork, quality, and food safety.
