General Manager Job Summary :
We are seeking an experiences and highly organized Operations Manager to join our dynamic team at Westport Precision Partners, a leading sheet metal fabricator. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations management, production planning, and manufacturing operations. This role involves managing the supply chain, overseeing inventory control, and collaborating with production teams to ensure seamless workflow and timely delivery of products. Key Responsibilities 1. Operations Management a. Develop and implement effective inventory control systems to ensure optimal stock levels. b. Work with Quality and Purchasing to source and manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials. c. Monitor and manage the movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods within the facility. d. Ensure compliance with safety and quality standards in material handling and storage. 2. Production Management a. Coordinate with production supervisors to develop and execute production schedules that meet customer demands and delivery timelines. b. Monitor production workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency. c. Monitor capacity, assist in planning, resource allocation, and labor management to optimize productivity. d. Collaborate with quality control teams to maintain product standards and address any production issues. 3. Assembly Department and Warehouse Operations a. Oversee the day-to-day activities of the assembly department, ensuring production targets and quality standards are met. b. Manage warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, and distribution of materials and finished goods. c. Implement best practices for inventory management within the warehouse to reduce waste and improve efficiency. d. Coordinate with assembly and warehouse teams to ensure seamless workflow and adherence to safety protocols. 4. Team Collaboration a. Foster collaboration between purchasing, production and logistics teams to align materials availability with production needs. b. Work closely with engineering and design teams to address any material related concerns or changes in productions requirements. c. Lead and mentor a team of operations staff, ensuring clear communication, setting performance expectations, and fostering a supportive environment for professional growth and development. 5. Data and Reporting a. Maintain accurate records of inventory, KPI's, and supply chain activities. b. Optimize ERP to produce practices that utilize lean principles. c. Analyze data to identify trends, forecast material needs, and improve operational strategies. d. Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, production status, and KPI's for management. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in operations management and production planning, preferably in a sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management software and enterprise resource planning systems.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and departments.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
