General Manager Job Purpose :
Manage all labor and operations within the Mailing Department, ensuring maximum efficiency, quality, and profitability while meeting USPS regulations, company performance standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. Serve as the primary mailing resource for Sales, Client Services, and Operations.
Scope :
Work directly with Client Services, Sales, Production, Planning, and other departments to ensure the accurate, efficient, and timely processing of mailing projects. Supervise Mailing Department employees and oversee all mailing operations, equipment scheduling, workflow management, postal compliance, quality standards, labor utilization, and customer service requirements. Serve as the company's Subject Matter Expert (SME) for mailing operations and USPS regulations while supporting operational objectives, business growth initiatives, and client satisfaction.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
§ Enforce all safety policies, equipment safety features, and plant safety procedures. § Promote a safe, clean, quality-focused, and productive work environment. § Lead, coach, train, and develop Mailing Department employees. § Manage employee performance, succession planning, and workforce development. § Schedule mailing equipment, labor, and workflow to meet customer deadlines efficiently. § Oversee daily mailing operations to ensure productivity, quality, and on-time delivery. § Work closely with Client Services, Planning, Production, and Operations to meet production requirements. § Manage employee timekeeping, labor utilization, overtime, and vacation schedules. § Assist with the development and management of the departmental budget. § Ensure accurate collection of time, material usage, and production data within the MIS system. § Develop, maintain, and enforce quality control procedures and operational standards. § Manage preventive maintenance and equipment repair programs to maximize uptime. § Maintain expert knowledge of USPS regulations, postal requirements, and mailing industry best practices. § Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for mailing operations, postal optimization, and mailing solutions. § Support Sales and Account Management teams with client presentations, recommendations, and mailing strategies. § Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. § Build and maintain effective relationships with USPS representatives, clients, vendors, and internal departments. § Communicate effectively with employees, leadership, clients, and business partners. § Support the Director of Operations in achieving operational goals and executing strategic initiatives. § Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental and company objectives.
