Job Description

Be the operational force behind one of South Florida's most dynamic contemporary art museums. MOCA North Miami is seeking a Director of Operations to lead the engine behind our mission, ensuring that everything from facilities to financial execution runs seamlessly so our artists, programs, and community can thrive. This is not just an operations role; it's a strategic leadership position at the center of a museum redefining how contemporary art connects with people and communities. Why This Role Matters
  • As Director of Operations, you will: Serve as a key partner to the Executive Director and Board Lead the day-to-day operations and long-term infrastructure of the museum Oversee facilities, capital projects, and vendor relationships Ensure financial discipline and operational excellence Build systems that support a high-quality visitor and staff experience What You'll Own
  • Operations & Facilities Oversee building operations, security, and guest experience Lead facility upgrades and capital projects in partnership with the City of North Miami Ensure seamless execution of exhibitions, programs, and events Strategic Partnerships Act as liaison to Board committees and the City Manage external vendors, contractors, and operational partners Financial Execution Partner on budgeting strategy while owning day-to-day budget execution Track expenses and drive operational efficiency Support earned revenue efforts like facility rentals Infrastructure & Systems Strengthen internal processes, workflows, and compliance Oversee outsourced functions to ensure quality and alignment Leadership Lead and develop operations, facilities, and guest experience teams Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and solutions Risk & Compliance Ensure compliance across all operational areas Lead safety, documentation, and museum best practices (AAM standards) What You Bring•7-10+ years of progressive leadership in nonprofit, arts, or similar environments Strong experience in operations, facilities, and/or capital projects Financial acumen with hands-on budget management experience Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-priority environment Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
Bonus:
Bilingual (English + Spanish or Haitian Creole) Experience with museum standards or accreditation processes The Details
