Role:
Job Summary The Diagnostic Imaging Operations Director is responsible for oversight of day-to-day operations of all outpatient imaging procedures. This position also focuses on customer service initiatives in growing, maintaining and optimizing the outpatient imaging business as well as customer relations with physician practices and office staff. This position is responsible for regulatory compliance and our accrediting agencies such as DNV, FDA, and ACR. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensure or other certifications: Current ARRT.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in related field.
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years progressive management experience in a competitive outpatient imaging environment or experience in a private practice environment with outpatient imaging services. Heavy emphasis on outpatient imaging operations to include the reduction in patient wait times, no show patients, report turnaround, physician requests and smooth operations a must.

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent communication skills with high-level physician practice administrators and staff, customer service oriented Ability to handle complex processes from patient/office access to final report generation Computer skills Has diverse knowledge and experience in making educated decisions based on situations that occur with working through problems with other departments and physician practices Has diverse knowledge of radiology nursing, diagnostic, CT, MRI (all procedures types), Nuc. Med/PET, Ultrasound, Women's Imaging to include mammography and bone density and working with cancer program to grow business Diverse working knowledge of all radiological equipment to include RIS/PACS, dictation, all modalities, peripheral equipment, all hospital information systems to include scheduling and registration Has high level knowledge in budgeting concepts and proficient in quality improvement initiatives In-depth knowledge of healthcare administration and principles and practices with billing systems and managed care Ability to understand and meet customer needs and work with Executive Director to put new programs in place to remain healthcare leader in this area Diverse skills in problem solving complex issues and create changes in operations across department to quickly resolve Essential Tasks and Responsibilities Provides administrative direction, effective leadership and advanced technical guidance by ensuring staff has resources, training, and patient/customer/physician needs are met. This means for all OP Imaging sites. This person will need to work closely with the inpatient supervisor side to assure consistency in policy and procedure. Direct supervision of all Imaging Centers' staff. Will work in conjunction with site supervisors and lead techs. Staff will include receptionists, technologists, radiology nurses and clerical staff. Interviews and makes salary recommendations for hiring staff. Maintains high level of contact with PASC Manager/Director to streamline front end operations of scheduling and registration at the Imaging Centers. Routinely monitors daily patient flow and throughput to ensure efficiency for all areas. Works with Radiologists on efficient process of through-put, results reporting and reports issues to Executive Director. Creates monitoring tool for all aspects of the outpatient process. Develops immediate action plans to be discussed and approved for any area out of department goal. Routinely monitors wait times by modality, no show patients, rescheduled patients and add on patients. Provides management with routine reports and creates action plans for areas that are out of compliance or unable to accommodate. Routinely reviews IMC's PHS schedule for accuracy and for education of staff and PASC team. Maintains high level of customer service and patient satisfaction. Responsible for complete review of patient satisfaction survey. Creates action plan for areas needing improvements. Monitors and reports success to management team. Provides education and instruction on NGHS customer service expectations to all receptionists, registrars, clerical staff, technologists and Radiology nurses. Monitors and assures all expectations are met. Provide routine rounding with all staff and physicians with the purpose of identifying barriers to prevent exceptional customer service or providing exceptional care. Record concerns and issues. Create action plans to resolve and monitor processes. Make changes/ improvements as necessary. Review routinely with Executive Director. Closely monitors staff productivity daily and fluctuates staff schedules as needed. Maintains productivity rates on a bi-weekly basis. Works with Radiologists and all site supervisors to review clinical protocols and service practices for all outpatient procedures within NGHS. In conjunction with supervisory staff, assure all equipment is in good working condition and properly maintained. Assure all radiation safety practices are maintained by staff and physicians. Assure all practices meet TJC guidelines. Communicates routinely with physicians, office managers, and staff on scheduling or any other area of concern, to ensure we are meeting the needs and we are viewed as providing efficient customer service as we are results oriented. Responsible for outpatient services complaints and concerns. Resolve all complaints and recommend changes in process to eliminate problem areas. Keep Executive Director informed of patterns to be addressed. Assure monthly staff meetings are held to communicate administrative and departmental information. Mentor site supervisors and lead staff to further develop leadership skills and implement business objectives. Works with Executive Director to develop capital and operating budgets and departmental goals and objectives for fiscal year. Responsible for disciplinary actions and employee counseling with the staff. Keep Director informed of issues or needs to suspend/terminate employees. Responsible for employee evaluations. Provide a good working environment to retain employees according to department goal. Work with QA/PI coordinator to ensure constant TJC readiness to include department walk-thru and practicing infection control techniques, patient safety, etc. Works with Executive Director on departmental projects and programs for Outpatient Services. Works with Executive Director to assure departmental business goals and objectives are met. Assures that supervisors of each site are working to meet the changing needs of the business and work within regulatory guidelines. Provides leadership to assist Executive Director in moving department forward with changing times in healthcare. Helps create level of urgency among staff and physicians to make changes and improve services throughout department. Use benchmark data to make educated decisions. Works with Executive Director on department wide projects and serves as project leader on programs that are implemented throughout department. Fills in as Executive Director when Executive Director is absent. Serves as right hand and assists in making department wide decisions and changes.
