About the Opportunity L&H Hydrovac is seeking an experienced and motivated Area Manager to lead and expand our Cedar Rapids, Iowa, operations. This is a leadership role with significant responsibility and influence, offering the opportunity to drive operational excellence, develop customer relationships, and contribute directly to the growth of our Iowa market. As Area Manager, you will oversee daily field operations, including scheduling, dispatching, customer service, safety compliance, billing, and team performance. You'll work closely with company leadership while operating with a high level of autonomy and accountability. This position is ideal for a results-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven track record of managing operations within the hydrovac, utility, excavation, construction, or related industries. Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management Oversee daily and weekly scheduling of crews and equipment to maximize efficiency, utilization, and profitability. Manage dispatch operations and coordinate field activities to meet customer expectations and project deadlines. Monitor operational performance and job profitability while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Support coordination between Cedar Rapids and other Iowa operations, including Des Moines, as business needs require. Customer Relations Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers and strategic accounts. Build and maintain long-term customer relationships through exceptional service and responsiveness. Address customer concerns and resolve issues professionally and efficiently. Financial & Administrative Oversight Review and approve customer invoices, billing documentation, and change orders. Assist with project estimating, job pricing, and cost management. Ensure accurate reporting and documentation across all operational activities. Leadership & Team Development Recruit, onboard, train, and develop field personnel. Conduct performance management activities, including coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary actions when necessary. Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and teamwork. Safety & Compliance Enforce all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance across all field operations. Qualifications Required Experience Demonstrated experience managing field operations within the hydrovac, vacuum excavation, construction, utilities, or related industries. Proven ability to lead crews, manage schedules, and drive operational results. Strong customer relationship management and problem-solving skills. Experience managing budgets, job costs, billing, and profitability. Excellent communication and leadership abilities. Preferred Qualifications CDL and/or heavy equipment experience preferred but not required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling, dispatching, or field management software. Personal Attributes Self-motivated and highly organized. Strong decision-making and leadership skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with leadership and field teams. Results-oriented with a commitment to operational excellence. Compensation & Benefits Compensation Base salary ranging from $85,000 to $130,000 , based on experience and qualifications. Performance-based bonus opportunities tied to operational and financial results. Additional incentive opportunities available.
