Job Description

CEFS Central Illinois Public Transit is seeking a detail-oriented, experienced professional to serve as Operations Manager. This full-time role supports efficient daily transit operations, strengthens workflows and internal processes, and helps ensure the accuracy and quality of transportation data. Reporting to the CIPT Program Director, the Operations Manager also supports staff supervision, operational oversight, and a culture of accountability and high performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Support efficient day-to-day public transit operations across the service area Improve workflows and organizational processes to enhance operational effectiveness Maintain the quality, accuracy, and integrity of transportation data and records Conduct quality review and oversee recordkeeping procedures Supervise, support, and help develop staff Oversee route scheduling to improve system efficiency Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local transit regulations, as well as CEFS, CIPT, and ITS software requirements Exercise sound independent judgment while promoting accountability, staff morale, and strong team performance
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree in operations management, human resources, business, or a related field preferred Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree Experience in operations or logistics required At least two years of supervisory experience required Proficiency in Excel, Word, and similar software applications required
Schedule and Location:
Full-time Monday through Friday Participation in an on-call rotation is required Based in Effingham, with regular travel throughout the seven-county service area
Compensation and Benefits:
Hourly wage is $23.48. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, vacation, flex, sick time, and paid holidays, and a 403(b) retirement plan. Must meet pre-employment requirements.
