This is a key leadership role responsible for driving performance, maintaining high safety standards, and ensuring fleet reliability in a fast-paced rail environment. You will work closely with the General Manager and have direct influence over team performance, safety culture, and day-to-day operational success. This position may occasionally require filling in for employee vacancies as operational needs arise. On-the-job training will be provided. Key Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and develop drivers and service technicians Drive a strong safety culture through audits, training, and real-time coaching Conduct safety meetings and ensure full compliance with OSHA and company policies Oversee fleet performance, including inspections, maintenance scheduling, and DOT compliance Ensure all vehicles are safe, fully stocked, and operationally ready Troubleshoot and coordinate preventive maintenance and minor repairs Manage daily operations, schedules, and service delivery across assigned rail yards Maintain working knowledge of routes, contractual and customer requirements Support hiring, onboarding, and workforce planning Track and complete all operational reporting (safety, fleet, inventory) Serve as a key point of contact for employees, management, and customers What We're Looking For Proven leadership experience supervising field teams Strong background in fleet management, transportation, or logistics Class A or B CDL (Prefered) 3+ years of commercial driving experience Working knowledge of safety programs, DOT/OSHA compliance Mechanically inclined with basic equipment knowledge Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills Ability to lead from the front in a hands-on environment Physical & Work Environment Lift up to 50 lbs. Climb trucks and ladders; work on uneven terrain Outdoor work in all weather conditions Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to pass drug screen, fitness exam, and background check Work Location In person
