This role manages both the Customer Operations Representatives and Carrier Sales Representatives, ensuring operational efficiency, service excellence, pricing accuracy, and strong carrier and customer relationships. The Truckload Operations Manager serves as a key operational leader, supporting team development, executing performance management through KPIs, and acting as an escalation point for customer and carrier needs. The ideal candidate is highly organized, service-focused, analytically driven, and experienced in truckload brokerage operations, carrier management, and team leadership. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Management Lead, coach, and develop Customer Operations Representatives and Carrier Sales Representatives to drive operational performance and accountability. Establish team goals, monitor productivity, and ensure adherence to operational processes and service standards. Conduct regular performance reviews, coaching sessions, and training to improve team effectiveness and employee growth. Foster a collaborative, customer-first culture while maintaining urgency in a high-volume brokerage environment. Serve as the escalation point for complex customer service issues, shipment disruptions, and carrier concerns. Customer & Carrier Support Support strategic customer accounts to ensure high service levels, proactive communication, and operational execution. Assist in resolving service failures, exceptions, delays, missed pickups/deliveries, and claims-related issues. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and carrier partners to improve retention and service reliability. Provide operational support to both customers and carriers while balancing cost, capacity, and service expectations. Pricing, Quoting & Capacity Management Assist with truckload pricing, spot quotes, and bid support to ensure competitive and profitable freight solutions. Collaborate with carrier sales teams to secure capacity while maintaining margin expectations and service commitments. Analyze market conditions, lane trends, and pricing fluctuations to support strategic decision-making. Ensure pricing aligns with company profitability goals and customer expectations. KPI Reporting & Performance Management Develop, track, and submit operational KPIs and performance reporting for leadership review.
Monitor key operational metrics including:
On-time pickup and delivery performance Tender acceptance rates Carrier compliance and service performance Gross margin and load profitability Quote turnaround time Customer response times and issue resolution Team productivity and shipment execution metrics Identify operational trends, root causes, and opportunities for continuous improvement. Operational Excellence Ensure smooth execution of daily truckload operations and shipment lifecycle management. Partner cross-functionally with sales, account management, and leadership teams to improve customer experience and operational efficiency. Assist with SOP development, workflow improvements, and process standardization. Support after-hours or escalated operational needs when necessary. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of truckload brokerage or logistics operations experience. 2+ years of leadership or team management experience preferred. Strong understanding of truckload transportation, carrier procurement, pricing strategies, and freight market dynamics. Experience managing customer-facing and carrier-facing teams in a brokerage environment. Strong analytical skills with experience reporting and managing KPIs. Proficiency with TMS systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Excel/Office Suite. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and relationship management skills.
