Operations Manager
  • Stoneyard Operations Estes Material Sales, Inc.
  • Hope, Indiana Position Summary The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the stoneyard, ensuring efficient material handling, inventory control, order fulfillment, delivery coordination, and equipment maintenance.
This role leads yard personnel and ensures a safe, organized, and productive environment that supports excellent customer service and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Yard Operations & Oversight Manage all day-to-day stoneyard operations including material storage, layout, and organization Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient yard environment Continuously improve yard flow, staging, and traffic patterns for customers and trucks Material Handling & Inventory Oversee receiving, unloading, and proper storage of bulk and palletized materials Monitor inventory levels and coordinate reordering with management Ensure accurate tracking of materials and minimize loss/shrinkage Order Fulfillment & Staging Supervise pulling, staging, and loading of customer orders (pickup and delivery) Ensure orders are accurate, timely, and properly staged for efficiency Coordinate with sales team to prioritize and schedule orders Delivery & Logistics Coordination Plan and schedule daily deliveries and routes Coordinate drivers, trucks, and delivery timing for maximum efficiency Communicate with customers regarding delivery expectations when needed Equipment & Maintenance Schedule and oversee maintenance of all equipment (loaders, forklifts, trucks, etc.) Ensure all equipment is operated safely and maintained properly Coordinate repairs and minimize downtime Team Leadership & Personnel Management Supervise, train, and develop yard staff Assign daily tasks and manage workflow Enforce safety standards and company policies Assist in hiring and performance management Safety & Compliance Maintain OSHA and company safety standards Conduct regular safety checks and training Ensure proper use of equipment and PPE Qualifications 3-5+ years of experience in yard operations, construction supply, landscaping supply, or similar industry Proven leadership and team management experience Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Experience with heavy equipment (forklifts, loaders, skid steers) Ability to multitask and manage a fast-paced environment Strong communication skills with both team and customers Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50-80 lbs regularly, bend, twist, and pivot. Climb in and out of equipment multiple times daily Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to operate heavy equipment and be active throughout the day Schedule Full-time, Monday-Friday (seasonal Saturdays) Peak season: April-October Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience Performance-based incentives Health Care no cost for employee
