Role Overview
The Operations Manager will design and implement systems supporting a wide-range of needs within the Shaw-Taylor School community. The Operations Manager will coordinate all day to day needs in partnership with school leadership for the school building to function effectively and safely for students, families and staff. They will coordinate the main office, supply inventory and ordering, schoolwide transitions, lunch and recess, transportation, as well as support adherence to the BPS Code of Conduct to ensure a safe learning environment. The Operations Manager will support the implementation and improvement of efficient and high quality systems and processes throughout the school. The Operations Manager will also lead the development of whole school and community events including assemblies. Responsibilities of the School Operations Manager will include but are not limited to:
School Safety & Student Engagement
Support school safety procedures, including monitoring entry points and hallways
Build trusting, respectful relationships with students through consistent presence and positive interactions
Serve as a visible and supportive adult presence in the building
Operations & Building Support
Develop and implement systems and procedures to ensure seamless execution of daily school operations in partnership with school leadership, including, but not limited to, arrival and dismissal procedures, lunch and recess, before and after school programming, main office management, and emergency plans
Prepare the school for the beginning and end of the year by ensuring that classrooms, building facilities, and services are lined up and ready to go
Provide oversight on the planning and execution of all on-site and off-site school events such as field trips, open houses, family nights, performances, etc.
Partner with custodial staff to clarify, and uphold cleanliness expectations in the building
Monitor cleanliness of the building on a daily basis through walkthroughs at the start of day and night custodial shifts Manage all building use requests and space reservation needs for school, before/after school, and partner requests Manage students transportation, including bus registration, bus lists, bus arrival and dismissal procedures and district-related interactions pertaining to the student bussing
Support with other administrative duties as needed
Monitor and develop content for family and community stakeholders and develop sharing system across multiple mediums (website, social media, telephone blasts, backpacked materials, etc) Manage inventory of all school supplies, classroom furniture, needs to ensure full utilization of resources and responsible spending Collaboration & Professionalism
Work collaboratively with Shaw-Taylor teams, specifically operations, administration and student success teams and follow district and school protocols consistently
Maintain respectful communication with students, families and staff at all times, all programs.
Maintain professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality at all times
Participate in selected all-school meetings, when appropriate.
Participate in selected professional development and training to build on skills.
Performs related duties of similar nature as requested by supervisor and/or Principals, to assure smooth school function. Qualifications
Associates/Bachelors degree with experience working with inner city youth in urban setting
High level of skill with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Drive, GMail, etc.) Shared dedication to the Shaw-Taylor's mission and core values
Commitment to the success of all Shaw-Taylor students
3+ years of full-time work experience; 1-3 years experience preferably in an education or non-profit related organization
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, lead multiple projects, and manage a high volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as within small and diverse teams
Comfort and familiarity with student information databases (Aspen, SIS, Panorama, etc)
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish, Cape Verdean or Haitian Creole a strong plus.

NOTE:
School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement.
School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
