Job Summary:
The Director of Operations for the Instron Static Division (an ITW company) is a critical functional head within the business, working with all members of the Static Leadership Team to meet and exceed the growth and profitability goals of the business. Primary responsibilities include oversight of the Assembly Operations, Machining Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics and Facility management. The role encompasses manufacturing operations based out of Norwood, MA as well as Binghamton, NY covering more than $200M worth of equipment sales and 100 employees. As a senior functional head, this position is responsible for developing an operations team who will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are driven to excel.
Primary responsibilities:
Oversees the day-to-day Manufacturing operations including Supply Chain, Assembly & Scheduling, Machining, Logistics and Building Maintenance. Supports monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue goals with appropriate scheduling practices and shipment analysis. Coordinates resources to meet customer delivery dates. Supports the concurrent product development process. Leads In-lining, MRD, 5S and other ITW Toolbox efforts. Ensures that facilities and equipment are properly maintained; keep abreast of latest manufacturing technologies. Serves as voice of quality in manufacturing and support quality efforts. Ensures that systems and procedures are up-to-date, well-documented, and reflective of current practices in support of
ISO 9001.
Ensures that the company complies with DEP, E.P.A. and O.S.H.A. requirements. Enforces safety regulations, and in general, promotes safe conduct to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment. Re-enforces the need for a safe workplace daily. Identify, lead, and develop talent to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting company goals. Participate in strategic and operational governance processes of the business organization as a member of the senior leadership team. Develop and maintain an appropriate departmental organizational structure that supports the needs of the business. Establish departmental goals, objectives, budgets, and operating procedures.
Education, Knowledge, & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in a Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering. Advanced technical and/ or business-related degree (MBA) preferred. In-depth knowledge of capital equipment manufacturing and manufacturing operations in a global environment. Proven track record in implementing lean manufacturing practices that align with ITW Toolbox skills - 80/20, USa, PLS, etc. Must be able to drive adoption in all aspects of the organization to maximize effectiveness and efficiency. Familiarity with
ISO 9001, ISO
17025, and various ASTM standards. Personal Attributes Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to engage and drive a diverse team of employees. Working Conditions:
Traditional office environment with significant periods on the factory floor. Exposure to noise, dust, and dirt. Must have a desire to travel, both domestically and internationally, as required. Expect on the order of 10% travel.
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to VPGM Instron Static.
Compensation Information:
This position has a starting salary range of $145,000 to $175,000 per year. Pay is determined by several factors, including a candidate's experience, relevant skills, and qualifications
