Job Title:
Director of Operations (Technical & Field Services) Position Summary The Director of Operations is a leadership role over the Field Service Technicians responsible for building, scaling, and optimizing company operations by leveraging deep hands‑on technical expertise in capital equipment, field service, and air filtration systems combined with business acumen and strategic leadership. Bachelors Degree required. This role bridges the gap between field execution and executive strategy, ensuring operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and sustainable growth. This position requires a proven technical professional with a background in equipment assembly, installation, repair, diagnostics, and maintenance—who has evolved into a business‑minded leader capable of managing people, processes, budgets, and performance at an organizational level. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Lead day‑to‑day operations across field service, manufacturing/assembly, installation, maintenance, and service teams Develop and execute operational strategies that align with company goals, financial targets, and customer requirements Establish KPIs, performance metrics, and reporting systems to drive efficiency, quality, and accountability Oversee scheduling, dispatch, and resource allocation for field technicians and service teams Technical & Field Services Oversight Provide subject‑matter leadership for capital equipment builds, machine installation, troubleshooting, and repair Ensure best practices for diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and corrective service across all equipment Maintain strong working knowledge of: Mechanical and electrical systems Power tools and shop equipment Air filtration and environmental systems Equipment safety, compliance, and quality standards Support complex customer issues, escalations, and root‑cause analysis when needed Process Improvement & Scalability Design and improve workflows, SOPs, and service processes to increase productivity and reduce downtime Standardize build, installation, service, and maintenance procedures across teams and locations Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies Drive operational readiness for company growth, new product introductions, and market expansion People & Culture Leadership Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high‑performing technicians, supervisors, and operations managers Translate technical work into clear expectations, training programs, and career pathways Foster a safety‑first, customer‑focused, and accountability‑driven culture Partner with HR and leadership on workforce planning and organizational development Business & Financial Management Own operational budgets, cost control initiatives, and margin improvement efforts Collaborate with sales, engineering, and leadership to align operations with revenue and customer strategy Analyze operational data to inform decision‑making and long‑term planning Support pricing, service models, and warranty strategies with real‑world field insight Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field 8+ years of progressive experience in field service, equipment manufacturing, or industrial service environments Demonstrated hands‑on experience with: Capital equipment assembly and build Machine repair, diagnostics, and troubleshooting Installation, maintenance, and service operations Air filtration or industrial environmental systems Strong working knowledge of power tools, mechanical systems, and industrial safety standards Proven leadership experience managing teams, projects, or multi‑functional operations
