About Heritage Nursery:
At Heritage Nursery, we are dedicated to preserving historical knowledge and cultivating lasting gardens. Our commitment lies in turning clients' visions into flourishing gardens, rooted in tradition and growing towards the future.
Position Overview:
Operations Manager will oversee the daily operations of our retail/ wholesale nursery and our Christmas greenery business. Ensuring exceptional customer service, effective inventory management, and a diverse selection of plants. This role requires a blend of horticultural expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
Assist customers when selecting plant material. Provide knowledgeable advice on plant care, disease management, and garden design. Address customer inquiries and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
Inventory Management:
Oversee the procurement of plants, ensuring a diverse and healthy selection. Manage stock levels, placing orders as needed to maintain inventory. Implement effective inventory tracking systems to minimize waste and shortages.
Staff Supervision:
Lead, train, and schedule garden center staff to ensure efficient operations. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing development opportunities.
Visual Merchandising:
Design and maintain attractive plant displays that highlight seasonal offerings. Ensure the garden center is clean, organized, and welcoming to customers.
Sales and Marketing:
Collaborate with the internal marketing team to implement sales strategies to meet revenue targets. Plan and execute promotional events and workshops to engage the community. Collaborate with the internal marketing team to enhance online presence and advertising efforts.
Operational Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and company policies. Maintain accurate records of sales, inventory, and staff hours. Manage budgets and assist in financial planning for the garden center. Manage the schedule of field staff and daily duties.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Business Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 3 years experience in retail nursery management or a similar role. Strong knowledge of plant species, gardening practices, and landscape design. Proven leadership and team management abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
