Job Description

We are hiring an Operations Manager to lead and inspire a high-performing team within our manufacturing value stream at our Wood Plant in Grand Rapids! This is a fantastic opportunity to make a direct impact on production, quality, and cost performance while developing talent and driving continuous improvement. You'll join a collaborative operations network and oversee a team of 25-30 employees in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Who You Are:
You are a strategic and people-focused leader with a passion for operational excellence. You thrive in manufacturing environments, bring strong problem-solving skills, and are energized by coaching teams to success.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 3-7+ years of formal leadership experience in manufacturing or operations Proven ability to manage people, processes, and performance Strong understanding of production systems, quality, and safety standards
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience with lean manufacturing principles (standardized work, flow, pull, waste elimination) Strong interpersonal and communication skills Financial acumen (budgeting, cost control, project justification) Experience leading cross-functional or special projects Ability to coach and mentor employees for performance and growth
What You Will Be Doing:
Lead day-to-day operations within a value stream, ensuring production goals are met Manage and develop a team of 30-50 employees, driving performance and engagement Collaborate with leadership to control costs and implement improvement initiatives Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company policies Support and document performance using the Steelcase Employee Performance System (SEPS) Wellbeing M eans so M uch M ore than B enefits , you may be interested in : Nurse and massage therapist onsite for employees Cell phone stipend monthly Employee assistance program, providing free counseling, financial resilience , and legal guidance 2 nd doctors opinion for you and your extended family (parents, siblings, spouse, and more!)
