Provide Strategic Leadership by: Aligning function with mission and core values of the organization. Developing and communicating shared vision for area of responsibility. Planning and executing continuous improvement processes for area of responsibility. Working with the Coordinator of Facilities Operations to establish priorities and cost estimates for deferred maintenance projects identified in the district's Long-Term Facilities Maintenance (LTFM) plan, including but not limited to pavement, concrete, synthetic/natural turf, irrigation systems, landscaping, and site lighting. Recommending capital equipment purchases Evaluating district grounds conditions, implementing strategic improvement needs and providing recommendations and cost estimates to the Coordinator of Facilities Operations and Assistant Director.Provide Performance Leadership by:
Developing staff and/or individual capacity to apply technical/functional expertise for maximum impact. Recommending employment and coordinating hiring for direct reports in accordance with the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement. Providing supervision to direct reports, including formative feedback and timely performance evaluations and/or demonstrating attention to quality enhancement by improving efficiencies and effectiveness in recordkeeping, workflow and compliance. Leading the work of others; delegating tasks and authority appropriately and/or establishing procedures to guide system and departmental work; monitoring and demonstrating effective decision-making strategies to meet project deadlines. Conducting research and working collaboratively with the facilities operations team and industry experts to establish efficient and effective groundskeeping means and methods. Seeking out training and learning opportunities for all ground staff members. Demonstrate Management Skills by: Managing department resources effectively and efficiently. Ordering grounds maintenance supplies to maintain appropriate levels of inventory; including soliciting vendor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and quality products and/or services. Monitoring and managing the condition of district grounds at all sites, including summer mowing, landscaping and irrigation as well as snow removal and salting in the winter. Monitoring weather and planning for snow events in coordination with Coordinator of facilities and snow plowing contractors. Developing plans for district staff during snow events including snow removal, salting, and blowing snow back. Developing plans for care and maintenance of athletic fields including fertilizing, weed control and aeration. Ensuring compliance with applicable policies, rules, and regulations. Ensuring all grounds equipment is maintained and operated according to manufacturers' recommendations. Working with district site administrators to develop landscaping and other site improvement plans. Ensuring completion of all periodic safety inspections, documentation and maintaining records. Assigning all grounds work tasks as required to maintain district standards including, but not limited to, irrigation, mowing, pruning shrubs, tree trimming/removal, weeding, snow removal, salting and other projects as needed Applying effective decision-making processes to problems or situations. Overseeing contractor performance for grounds tasks, including landscaping, irrigation repairs/installation, and snow removal.Demonstrate Interpersonal Skills by:

Performing other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.Education/Knowledge Requirement:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in turf management or similar is preferred. Essential knowledge and specialized subject knowledge required to perform the essential functions of the job: Knowledge of proper grounds maintenance programs, including natural and synthetic sports field maintenance Knowledge of snow removal and salting best practices Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic tools, and equipment required to perform grounds and facility maintenance work Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, codes, and guidelines related to right-to-know, safety, and facility operations Knowledge of all safety precautions and procedures applicable to the trade Knowledge of irrigation system fundamentals, operation, and maintenance Knowledge of the proper application, use, storage, and disposal of chemicals used in the performance of the job Knowledge of hazardous waste handling and disposal procedures General knowledge of repair and maintenance principles across mechanical, electrical, carpentry, and masonry disciplines Knowledge of basic accounting, budgeting, and record-keeping practices Skill in directing, supervising, training, and evaluating grounds and maintenance staff Skill in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting district grounds and maintenance equipment Ability to analyze and assess maintenance issues and collaboratively develop effective solutions Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and subordinates, both orally and in writing Ability to work effectively with stakeholders, including building principals, staff, students, and the community Ability to organize work, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks Ability to maintain accurate and current records related to maintenance activities and operations License/Certification (Identify licenses/certification required upon hiring): Valid driver's license upon hire. Must obtain MN Pesticide License within one year of start date.Salary:
