The Shuttle Manager works directly under the Operations Manager and is responsible for organizing and scheduling the Assistant Yard Supervisors and hourly staff by directing nightly operations of all yard functions. This position is responsible for ensuring safe vehicle movement as well as receipt/storage of vehicles through efficient productivity of the work crews. The Shuttle Manager coordinates the activities of associates under the direction of the Terminal Manager and/or Operations Manager to ensure a well-coordinated, productive, efficient operation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Communicate daily with leads, other staff and office personnel to determine staffing, supply and operational needs; ensuring daily manpower plans are met and there are no service failures to the customer. Manage subordinate supervisors and their teams. Participate in and ensure new associates receive the appropriate training. Responsible for the progressive disciplinary process in counseling, coaching, warning notices, and other corrective actions to ensure that a productive labor climate exists. Oversee supervisor direct reports to ensure daily labor accounting is completed using the Workforce Time & Attendance system; act as backup to supervisors in correcting and editing associate time if needed. Accurately interpret and mentor supervisors in the appropriate practices and standards to avoid unnecessary grievances and disputes; ask for guidance from senior management if unsure. Observe and assist where needed. Make appropriate changes to activities if needed. Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed Report accidents and injuries on appropriate forms and communicate the procedure to all appropriate customers/vendors and company personnel. Conducts accident investigations. Ensure all end-of-shift reports and associated daily paperwork is completed on time, accurately, and within company standards, by the supervisors. Document performance issues and coordinate all corrective action with the Operations and/or Terminal Manager. Ensure all associates adhere to the safety programs to provide a safe, clean workplace for all personnel and within the regulations of local, state, and OSHA standards. Conduct time studies and man-minute reports and evaluates associates according to standards. Coach and mentor all direct and indirect reporting associates. Direct the day-to-day activities of the operation in a productive, cost-efficient manner. Oversee vehicle receipt/movement/storage. Oversee pre-delivery inspections. Daily scheduling of personnel. Assign personnel to job locations. May interface with the customer to ensure customer satisfaction; will generally defer most issues to Operations Manager or Terminal Manager. React to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned. Assist in equipment, facility, and company vehicle maintenance. May assist with property maintenance issues. May stand in as a backup to the Operations Manager. Perform other duties assigned. Minimum Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent 3 years or more of lead or supervisory experience in automotive, logistics, or warehousing industries Ability to communicate with and work effectively with customers, associates, and the public Ability to perform effectively under pressure Knowledge of invoicing/billing process, including an ability to perform routine business mathematics and understand accounts payable/receivable Ability to perform a variety of functions which requires considerable exercise of independent judgment Ability to work with a diverse group of people Ability to produce accurate reports and information Ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets Ability to pass driver's safety test with a score of 80% or higher Ability to work both indoors and outdoors, often in extreme weather conditions Proficiency in MS Office, including intermediate Excel and Access Thorough knowledge of operations and office practices, procedures, and equipment Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, including the use of proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation Must be able to work a flexible schedule; with varying hours and days based upon operational needs Demonstrated ability and experience of supervisory/management principles and practices Prior management in a union setting beneficial Strong planning, analysis, and organizing skills Ability to perform a variety of functions requiring considerable exercise of independent judgement.
