Job Description

About our opportunity: The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Parking Operations Supervisor (Weekend Nights) in the Transportation Department, Parking Services Division. The Parking Services Division is committed to maintaining and improving the city's parking infrastructure, ensuring accessible and efficient parking solutions for residents and visitors. This position will primarily oversee weekend parking operations to ensure the smooth functioning of parking facilities across the city. What you'll be doing: Manage and supervise weekend parking operations, ensuring efficient and optimal staffing based on traffic volumes, events, and special needs. Oversee the provision of customer service, fee collection, and cleaning of parking garages, lots, public restrooms, and office areas. Conducts rounds at all parking facilities: Monitor and inspect parking facilities and equipment, including parking structures, elevators, emergency phones, and pay-in-lane machines. Coordinate and manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage, including supervising City Parking Attendants and City Parking Facility Attendants. Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and service requests related to parking operations, providing resolutions to routine and complex issues. Assist in the investigation of vehicle damage, personal injuries, and damage to City property, coordinating with vendors and maintenance staff as needed. Facilitate the coordination of parking operations for special events, including determining staffing needs and supervising special event staff. Ensure that all departmental documentation is processed accurately and in a timely manner, including facility condition reports and timesheets. Utilize a personal computer and other office equipment to perform essential functions, including data entry and report generation.

Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered: Four years of experience in parking operations plus a High School Diploma/GED , OR Two years of experience in parking operations plus an Associate's Degree in Business or a related field. A valid state driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous supervisory experience in parking operations or a related field. Experience managing parking technology and equipment. Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
Performance Aptitudes:
Strong organizational and leadership skills to oversee parking operations and staff effectively. Ability to analyze and resolve operational problems while maintaining a high level of customer service. Proficiency in using parking management software and general office applications.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to walk and stand for extended periods while conducting facility inspections. Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions. Occasional lifting and carrying of equipment or materials related to parking facility operations. Ability to work overnight shifts Ability to frequently walk up and down flights of stairs.
