Job description: We seek a reliable, upbeat, motivated person dedicated to environmental sustainability to handle the administrative responsibilities of running a successful agricultural food waste composting operation. The Compost Site Administrator ensures the efficient and optimal processing of incoming materials by monitoring, inspecting, documenting, and reporting to Management and Ownership on site-specific NJDEP permit requirements, including scientific analysis of new feedstocks and testing of finished soils. Work performed in an outdoor agricultural environment. Must be willing to work at a site with portable restrooms, no running water, and limited electricity in all elements and weather conditions.
Requirements:
- The ability to stand for extended periods, walk and stand on uneven ground, ability to raise arms to shoulder height while lifting 15 pounds; lift/carry weights up to 50 pounds.
- Use of some machinery, including but not limited to loaders and forklifts (will train).
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, verbal and written skills, time management, and multitasking.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products, Google applications, spreadsheets, and other administrative tools.
- Work with the Compost Site Manager to create optimal windrow recipes based on current/incoming feedstocks, including researching and approving potential new incoming feedstocks and incoming volumes.
- Must be able to detect and differentiate odors.
- Maintain daily logs for incoming materials, outgoing materials, volumes on site, and weather conditions
- Able to represent the company during NJ DEP and County Board of Health inspections and provide detailed reports and information to Ownership for post-inspection inquiries.
- Prepare annual/quarterly reports per NJ DEP permit requirements for review/submission by Ownership.
- Assist with permit application(s), modifications, and updates.
Education:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products, Google applications, spreadsheets, and other composting industry tools
- Participate in industry groups and continuing education within the compost field
- Prefer experience with composting, but willing to train.
- A desire to remain updated with composting trends and technology Company Requirements Valid US Driver's license required Strong written and verbal communication (in English) Bilingual (Spanish) a plus Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are required.
Non-smoking facility, including e-cigarettes. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, some mandatory Saturdays, with opportunities for overtime.
