This position requires a confident, experienced leader with a strong understanding of the plumbing industry, field operations, customer service, scheduling, job costing, compliance, team accountability, and performance management. Operational Leadership The Director of Operations is responsible for managing and supporting field technicians, office staff, dispatch, and other operational team members to ensure work is completed efficiently, professionally, safely, and in accordance with company standards. This role includes overseeing job flow from initial customer contact through completion, ensuring proper scheduling, materials coordination, technician productivity, quality control, and customer satisfaction. HR, Accountability, and Performance Management This position plays a key role in HR and performance management. Responsibilities include helping recruit, onboard, train, coach, and evaluate employees; addressing performance concerns; enforcing company policies, procedures, rules, safety standards, and regulations; and holding team members accountable in a fair, consistent, and professional manner. Leadership Style Required The ideal candidate MUST be a confident, direct, and solutions-oriented leader who does not shy away from confrontation, difficult conversations, or making unpopular decisions when necessary. This person must be able to manage conflict professionally, enforce expectations consistently, address issues quickly, and maintain authority while still earning the respect of both office and field teams. Industry Experience Plumbing experience is strongly preferred, as this role requires the ability to understand job requirements, technician needs, customer concerns, service timelines, and operational challenges specific to the plumbing industry. Growth and Systems A successful Director of Operations will implement systems that streamline processes, improve communication, reduce delays, increase profitability, strengthen company culture, and support long-term growth. Skills and Requirements Strong leadership and management skills Prior experience in the plumbing, trades, construction, HVAC, or service industry strongly preferred Ability to manage field technicians, office staff, dispatch, and administrative team members Confident communicator who can handle confrontation and difficult conversations professionally Experience with performance management, employee accountability, coaching, and corrective action Ability to enforce company policies, procedures, rules, safety standards, and regulations Strong understanding of scheduling, dispatching, job flow, service calls, and project coordination Ability to identify operational issues and create systems to improve efficiency Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to manage customer concerns, escalations, and service-related issues Knowledge of job costing, labor efficiency, materials coordination, and profitability Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities at once Ability to work closely with ownership and leadership to execute company goals Comfortable holding team members accountable while maintaining professionalism and respect Experience recruiting, onboarding, training, and evaluating employees preferred Ability to lead by example and create a culture of accountability, urgency, quality, and professionalism Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to remain calm, firm, and solutions-focused under pressure
