Posting Details Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within one (1) week of closing date. Why does the job exist? This position will serve to direct and oversee all maintenance activities including: budget, manpower, and equipment; supervise maintenance patrols and maintenance crews to ensure State roadways and right-of-ways are safe for the traveling public. How does it get done? By supervising Managers, Administrative Support and Highway Maintenance Worker Supervisors within their area. Oversee, coordinate, and prioritize maintenance activities for state maintained roads in District one with Supervisors, Maintenance Assistance Engineer Executive and Senior Engineer Executive. Manage maintenance budget including; field supplies, equipment, patrol facilities, materials and contract maintenance. Who are the customers? The traveling public and pedestrians. Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of professional level experience with a light strategic impact directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience. A hiring agency will designate a portion of the required experience to include management, supervisory and/or specialized experience. Any required licensure, certification or registration shall be defined at the time of recruitment and will be in addition to the above requirements. Employment Requirements This position is designated as safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess a valid Driver's License and a Class A Commercial Drivers' License is required at time of interview. A pre-employment background investigation is required. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and drug test and is conditional pending results. Business and/or personal reference checks and driver's license verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in the office and in the field in varying weather conditions-hot or cold, humidity, wind, rain and snow, exposure to sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious placed, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, rough/rugged terrain, noxious plants and infected trash, exposure to hazardous chemicals, insects, reptiles, loud noises, confined spaces, stressful situations, subject to falls and bruises, considerable physical strain, high speed/high volume traffic, interaction with the public, local county, school and city officials by phone or in person, irregular hours day or night, subject to call out for emergencies, work holidays if required, heavy lifting, sitting/standing, bending squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling.
