Job Description
Twin Rivers Paper Company, headquartered in Madawaska, Maine, is an integrated specialty paper manufacturer producing 400,000 tons of paper per year for the packaging, publishing, label, and technical sectors. With 100 years of papermaking history, the company operates a pulp mill in New Brunswick, and diverse paper assets in northern Maine and upstate New York that produce uncoated and coated white papers in a broad range of basis weights and finishes. Customized product development and dedicated technical services support are company hallmarks. SCOPE:
The Director of Operations will be directly responsible for managing 3 paper mills making up Twin Rivers New York Operations. Provide and manage clean, safe, organized work environments that promote efficient operations and shared best practices. Emphasis on mill support as it relates to customer focus, quality improvement and paper machine performance. Help ensure the mills produce quality specialty paper products that meet Twin Rivers customer expectations in a timely manner. Position is on-site in the Little Falls, NY area.RESPONSIBILITIES
Help ensure safe operations. Communicate, administer, and support OSHA and company policies, procedures and recordkeeping. Participate in weekly/monthly meetings when possible, including safety , manufacturing, continuous improvement and maintenance reliability. Drive detailed examination of key performance indicators. Mitigate chronic paper machine or maintenance issues and improve paper machine runnability. Develop management and technical skills of direct reports. Promote a program of cross functional technical management. Develop a healthy, safe, can-do atmosphere based on accountability, employee engagement, respect and dignity. Support and develop ISO 90001 and required standard operating procedures. Assist the paper mills to remain on budget for MRO, raw material and discretionary expense. Ensure that the facilities remain within the environmental permit limits. Monitor facility wastewater discharge to ensure that all potential environmental issues are reported. Meet or exceed quality targets. Work with the Plant Managers and mill employees to adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Help maintain food safety certification across all sites. Maintain appropriate paper product properties and papermaking variables (i.e., fiber source, machine settings, chemical interactions, etc.). Meet or exceed production, cost, and machine efficiency goals. Create and encourage an environment that supports process optimization. Support trials for new product development. In concert with the Mill Managers, efficiently manage your workforce, scheduling, over-time, contract administration and disciplinary procedures. Coordinate operations and maintenance schedules with the Plant Managers. Coordinate facility response to call-ins. Assist the mill managers with implementing capital projects including follow up with ROI or justifications.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, science, or other related field Minimum of 10 years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment with roles of increasing responsibility Demonstrated experience in process engineering, operations support, or technical services. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with proven ability to solve complex technical problems. Excellent organizational, planning, and time-management skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities with the capability to work cross-functionally. Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards within manufacturing or industrial sectors.
