Honhorst Position Summary Honhorst is seeking an accomplished Operations Manager to lead fabrication shop and related field operations within our industrial mechanical construction business. This role requires a highly experienced leader with a strong background in ASME‑code fabrication, estimating, safety, and union craft environments. The ideal candidate will balance strategic thinking with hands‑on leadership, support existing successful processes, and play a key role in expanding Honhorst's customer base locally and beyond. Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership Provide day‑to‑day leadership of fabrication shop and field operations, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget performance Maintain and promote a strong safety culture through knowledge, visibility, and example Lead within a union craft environment, fostering collaboration, accountability, and operational success Work alongside craft labor when required, setting a professional and engaged leadership example Ensure compliance with ASME codes, quality control standards, and internal procedures Support and protect established Honhorst processes that are effective, while driving thoughtful improvements where needed Estimating & Project Oversight Develop and review detailed estimates for metal components, including piping, vessels, and mechanical assemblies Oversee quality, cost, and execution throughout the project lifecycle Collaborate with other business units to ensure alignment, resource optimization, and shared success Customer Engagement & Sales Support Represent Honhorst professionally with corporate‑level customers and stakeholders Support sales strategy and business development efforts, including: Core Greater Cincinnati industrial customers Customer portals and emailed RFQs Expansion within the Greater Cincinnati market New business opportunities outside of the Cincinnati region Projects involving expanded sub‑contractor participation IRR spin‑off and complementary work Assist in expanding and diversifying the customer base through operational credibility and technical expertise Integration, Innovation & Technology Drive collaboration between Honhorst and IRR craft work to maximize efficiency and profitability Apply innovative and "outside‑the‑box" thinking to support local and international growth initiatives Leverage management and operational software to improve visibility, planning, and execution Qualifications Required Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial mechanical construction, shop and/or field Strong emphasis on piping, vessels, and ASME‑code work Demonstrated management experience in a fabrication or industrial environment Strong working knowledge of safety programs , quality control, and ASME code fundamentals Proven ability in detailed metal component estimating Strong communication skills; professional, articulate, and customer‑facing Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple business units Technically proficient with modern management and estimating software Willingness to be hands‑on in the shop or field as required Preferred Familiarity with the Greater Cincinnati industrial market and customer base Experience successfully leading within a union craft environment What We Offer Competitive compensation Stable, growing company Supportive team environment Opportunity to grow within the service division A workplace culture that values teamwork, communication, and accountability Join Our Team If you are someone who takes pride in organization, communication, and helping a team succeed, we encourage you to apply.
