Job Description

Assistant Director Jefferson County Humane Society The Jefferson County Humane Society is seeking a dedicated, mission-driven, and collaborative leader to join our team as Assistant Director. This position plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of our organization and helping ensure the continued success of our shelter, veterinary clinic, and community programs. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Director of Operations to oversee organizational initiatives, support department managers, improve operational efficiency, and help drive strategic goals. This individual will serve as a leader and resource for staff, promoting a positive workplace culture while ensuring high standards of animal care, customer service, and organizational excellence. Key Responsibilities Assist with the oversight of daily operations across multiple departments, including shelter, clinic, humane investigations, and administrative functions. Provide leadership, coaching, and support to managers and supervisors. Help develop, implement, and monitor organizational policies, procedures, and best practices. Support employee engagement, staff development, and performance management initiatives. Assist with organizational planning, goal setting, and strategic projects. Analyze operational processes and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness. Serve as a point of contact and decision-maker in the absence of the Director of Operations. Support budgeting, reporting, and organizational performance tracking. Collaborate with leadership to ensure exceptional care for animals and outstanding service to the public. Promote and uphold the mission, values, and culture of the Jefferson County Humane Society. Qualifications Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate, develop, and support teams. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in operations management, nonprofit leadership, animal welfare, veterinary medicine, or a related field is preferred. Commitment to the mission and values of the Jefferson County Humane Society. Proficiency with computer systems and standard business software. Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment in challenging situations.
