Job Description

Director of Distribution Operations About the Opportunity A leading organization is seeking an experienced and results-oriented operations leader to oversee all aspects of a large-scale distribution facility. This individual will be responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction while leading a cross-functional team that supports all facets of the operation. This is a high-impact leadership role for a proven operator who thrives in fast-paced distribution environments and has a strong track record of building teams, improving performance, and delivering measurable business results. This position reports to executive leadership. Position Summary The Director of Distribution Operations is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of a high-volume distribution center. This role provides strategic direction and day-to-day oversight for all operational functions, including receiving, inventory management, order fulfillment, and shipping. In addition to direct warehouse operations, this leader oversees all support functions associated with the facility, including engineering, maintenance, automation, safety, quality, human resources, and information technology. The successful candidate will drive productivity, service, and profitability while ensuring alignment with company objectives and customer expectations. Key Responsibilities Provide overall leadership and accountability for all aspects of the distribution center. Drive operational excellence through performance management, process improvement, and execution of key performance indicators. Lead and develop site leadership and cross-functional teams. Ensure high levels of service, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency. Manage labor planning, workforce optimization, and staffing strategies. Oversee facility financial performance, including labor costs, operating expenses, and profitability. Build and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent communication and execution. Conduct regular operational reviews and identify opportunities to improve productivity and service. Develop and implement standard operating procedures and best practices. Support growth initiatives, start-ups, and operational improvement projects. Provide performance updates, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field required; Master's degree preferred. 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in distribution, warehouse, or supply chain operations. Proven success leading large-scale distribution center operations. Experience managing financial performance, including P&L or cost center responsibility. Demonstrated ability to improve productivity, service, and profitability. Experience launching new facilities or leading operational turnarounds preferred. Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to work in a warehouse environment, including varying temperatures. Ability to travel by automobile or airplane as needed. Ability to lift up to 45 pounds.
