Full-Time, On-Site Position Summary The Warehouse Director of Operations oversees all distribution center activities to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant handling of food products. This leader drives operational excellence through strong team development, continuous process improvement, and effective use of warehouse management and ERP systems. The role is responsible for strategic planning, daily execution, and long-term operational growth within a fast-paced food distribution environment. Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership Direct all warehouse functions including receiving, put-away, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping, and returns. Ensure compliance with food safety standards (FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF) and company quality requirements. Maintain high service levels through accurate, timely, and cost-effective distribution operations. Oversee facility layout, equipment utilization, and workflow optimization. Training & Team Development Build a high-performing warehouse leadership team through coaching, mentoring, and structured development plans. Implement standardized training programs for warehouse associates, supervisors, and leads. Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous learning. Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning to support long-term organizational growth. Process Improvement & Operational Excellence Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies. Analyze operational KPIs to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve productivity. Develop and implement SOPs to ensure consistency, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Drive cross-functional collaboration with procurement, transportation, and customer service teams. WMS/ERP Systems Management Oversee the effective use, optimization, and integration of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP platforms. Partner with IT and vendors to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and support system upgrades. Ensure accurate data flow for inventory management, order processing, and reporting. Train staff on system functionality and best practices to maximize operational efficiency. Safety & Compliance Champion a strong safety culture through training, audits, and proactive risk mitigation. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and internal safety standards. Maintain documentation and readiness for internal and external audits. Financial & Strategic Management Develop and manage warehouse budgets, including labor, equipment, and capital expenditures. Forecast staffing needs and operational capacity based on seasonal and business trends. Support strategic initiatives related to network optimization, automation, and facility expansion. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience). 7+ years of warehouse or distribution leadership experience, preferably in food distribution or perishable goods. Strong expertise with WMS and ERP systems (e.g., Manhattan, Blue Yonder, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite). Demonstrated success in process improvement and operational optimization. Proven ability to lead, train, and develop large teams in a high-volume environment. Knowledge of food safety regulations and warehouse compliance requirements. Preferred Experience with automation, voice-pick systems, or advanced warehouse technologies. Lean/Six Sigma certification. Experience managing multi-shift operations.INDENG Pay:
