Job Description

On-Site Program Manager Horizons at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 2.3 2.3 out of 5 stars 500 W Willow Grove Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19118 From $1,250 a week - Seasonal Springside Chestnut Hill Academy 3 reviews From $1,250 a week - Seasonal About Horizons at SCH Horizons at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy is a tuition-free summer academic enrichment program serving 90 public school scholars in grades K through 5 from Northwest Philadelphia. Now in its sixth summer, the program pairs reading and math instruction with swim, STEM, robotics, music, tennis, golf, and leadership enrichment, all built around the joy of learning. Position Purpose The On-Site Program Manager keeps each program day on track and is the senior staff member on site while the program is in session. Working from a schedule and program plan that are already set, the Manager keeps the day running smoothly and gets ahead of problems before they grow. This is hands-on work in the building and in the field. The Manager moves through the building and campus, staying close to the rhythm of the day and ready to adjust when something shifts, whether a delayed trip or a midmorning staffing gap. Lead teachers, assistants, specialists, and high school volunteers take their day-to-day direction from the Manager, who keeps everyone aligned to the plan and is the first person to turn to when a decision is needed. The Manager sets the tone on site, while the Executive Director provides overall program leadership and is present throughout the summer. The program is fully designed and underway, and this role carries it through to a strong close over its final three weeks. Essential Functions Runs the daily flow of the program, keeping transitions between academic blocks, enrichment, swim, and recess on schedule. Coordinates and supports staff and volunteers, keeping everyone aligned to the plan and serving as the first point of decision when questions or issues come up. Serves as the senior staff member on site during the program day, making in-the-moment calls within the established plan and escalating to the Executive Director when needed. Manages day-of logistics for field trips and swim sessions. Supports daily meal service alongside the food service lead, including setup, distribution, and cleanup. Keeps accurate records organized in shared Google Drive files and supports the logistics of end-of-program STAR testing in the final week while teachers and staff lead the assessment itself. Fosters a positive, collaborative team environment focused on scholar success. Qualifications Experience in summer, out-of-school-time, after-school, or camp programming, or as an educator in a school setting. Comfortable directing a team and holding a group to a plan, and staff and volunteers find you steady and easy to turn to. Organized and level-headed, with the judgment to prioritize when several things need your attention at once. Able to adapt and solve problems in the moment rather than waiting for the day to settle. Comfortable working with children and families, and committed to a welcoming, inclusive environment for scholars from under-resourced schools. Comfortable utilizing Google Drive and Workspace. Bachelor's degree preferred. Current or prior experience at SCH or with Horizons is an asset. Physical Requirements and Work Environment This is an active, on-site role. The Manager is on the move throughout the building and campus, works both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, and can occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. To Apply Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. External applicants will submit a resume and a brief letter of interest through our online portal. Current SCH employees may email their resume and a brief letter of interest to horizons@sch.org. Springside Chestnut Hill Academy is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals with disabilities throughout the application process and in employment.
