This role is an essential leadership position within a healthcare environment, blending strategic purchasing expertise with hands-on departmental oversight. You will play a critical role in maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, and infection control requirements, while also partnering closely with clinical, facilities, and administrative teams to keep operations efficient, responsive, and audit ready. Beyond procurement, this role offers meaningful influence across the organization through active participation and leadership on key committees, including product evaluation, emergency services, and infection control. You will drive data-informed purchasing decisions, oversee inventory integrity, and support long-term programs such as fixed assets and sterilization record management. This is an opportunity well-suited for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys supervising teams, improving processes, collaborating across disciplines, and making a tangible impact on quality, safety, and fiscal responsibility in a regulated healthcare setting. This is a 40 hour per week position, working 7:am-3:30pm and the days off are Saturday and Sunday. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive): Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the Materials Management Department, including staffing, scheduling, training, performance management, and first-stage disciplinary actions in coordination with the Director of Environment of Care. Direct departmental operations to ensure efficiency, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of materials management processes and service quality. Manage purchasing activities for supplies and equipment that support patient care, utilizing usage data to maintain par levels, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring accurate documentation and approvals. Oversee inventory control functions, including receipt verification, physical inventories, fixed asset participation, and maintenance of accurate records and reports. Administer and maintain the Meditech Materials Management system and the WebEOC PPE database to support operational tracking and regulatory readiness. Collaborate closely with nursing, clinical, facilities, and administrative departments to ensure timely availability of patient care supplies and effective resource utilization. Serve as an active participant on facility leadership and compliance committees, including Facilities Equipment Management, Emergency Services, Infection Control, and General Management. Chair the Product Evaluation Committee by coordinating research, financial analysis, vendor presentations, trials, and formal recommendations for products and equipment. Partner with the Director of Infection Control to establish and enforce Central Supply policies and procedures for decontamination and steam sterilization in accordance with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and/or Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) standards, including long-term record retention and reporting. Review, analyze, and prepare operational and compliance reports.
Required Qualifications:
Strong knowledge of purchasing principles and practices, including the procurement of supplies, materials, and equipment within established policies and procedures. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, regulations, standards, specifications, and organizational guidelines governing materials management operations. Proficiency in analyzing data, reports, charts, and other documentation to evaluate information, draw sound conclusions, and make informed recommendations. Ability to gather, organize, and assemble information accurately, following required formats, procedures, and recordkeeping standards. Experience reading and interpreting contracts, bids, and technical specifications to support effective purchasing decisions. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of clear reports and the delivery of precise instructions. High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with numerical data, codes, symbols, and inventory records. Proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships, exercising tact, professionalism, and collaboration across departments. Capacity to work independently, adapt to changing priorities, and exercise sound judgment in a dynamic healthcare environment. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices, including staff planning, training, performance evaluation, motivation, and disciplinary processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in healthcare materials management or supply chain operations within a regulated clinical or hospital environment. Familiarity with Meditech Materials Management systems and inventory control technologies, including data-driven purchasing and reporting. Experience supporting infection control, sterilization processes, or product evaluation committees, including collaboration with clinical and quality teams. A currant and valid driver's license.

MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional or paraprofessional experience in purchasing work, and (B) of which at least three years must have been in a professional capacity, and (C) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity, or (D) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.
Substitutions:
I. An Associate's degree with a major in business administration or business management may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.
  • II. A Bachelor's or higher degree with a major in business administration or business management may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience and one year of the required (B) experience.
  • Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
NOTE:
Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of one year of the required (B) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (C) experience.
