This role oversees multiple functional leaders—including Volunteer Management, Compliance, CORE Program Operations, and Community Outreach—to ensure that volunteers are effectively prepared, deployed, and supported across all clinic and headquarters operations. The Director of Volunteer Operations reports directly to the COO and partners closely with Operations Directors to scale healthcare access through a compliant, reliable, and mission-driven volunteer workforce. Job Responsibilities Volunteer Operations Strategy & System Design Develop and implement a comprehensive volunteer operations strategy that supports RAM's clinical programs, geographic reach, and expansion of healthcare access objectives. Design scalable volunteer systems that integrate recruitment, credentialing, training, deployment, and engagement across all program needs. Ensure volunteer capacity planning aligns with clinic schedules, complexity, and demand. Balance volunteer experience and regulatory compliance in all volunteer staffing models. Functional Oversight & Organizational Alignment
  • Provide strategic oversight for all volunteer operations functions, ensuring recruitment, staffing, compliance, and outreach activities operate as an integrated system.
  • Establish clear accountability frameworks across volunteer operations to support reliable clinic staffing and headquarters support.
  • Align volunteer operations managers around shared priorities and performance expectations.
  • Ensure effective coordination among volunteer management, compliance, CORE program leadership, and community outreach functions to support operational needs and organizational goals.
  • Design and implement workflows that enable scalability, consistency, and regulatory compliance across volunteer operations.
  • Regularly assess capacity, performance, and risks across volunteer functions and implement improvements to strengthen alignment and execution.
Volunteer Deployment & Field Integration Partner with the Director of Field Operations to ensure volunteer deployment models support telehealth, clinic, denture, and transportation-supported clinic operations. Establish standards that clarify volunteer training levels, licensing requirements, and ensure compliance through regular evaluation and auditing of volunteer operations. Support seamless integration of CORE volunteers into field operations, clinical workflows, and site leadership structures. Compliance, Credentialing & Risk Management Ensure all volunteer operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including healthcare licensure and scope-of-practice requirements. Oversee systems and controls that verify volunteer credentials, training completion, and ongoing eligibility. Maintain audit readiness and documentation for volunteer-related compliance reviews. CORE Program Strategy & Leadership Development Provide strategic oversight and support of the CORE Program to ensure it builds operational leadership capacity within clinics. Align CORE Program development with operational needs and succession planning for field leadership roles. Evaluate CORE Program effectiveness and continuously improve training and deployment models. Community Outreach & Volunteer Pipeline Development Oversee community outreach strategies that expand RAM's volunteer pipeline through schools, student chapters, professional organizations, and conferences. Ensure outreach initiatives align with volunteer capacity needs and geographic priorities. Partner with Communications and Development teams to support volunteer recruitment messaging. Monitor outreach effectiveness and adjust strategies to strengthen volunteer pipelines. Volunteer Experience, Retention & Engagement Establish standards for volunteer communication, preparation, and support to ensure a positive and consistent experience. Promote volunteer recognition and engagement practices that support retention and long-term commitment. Leadership & Team Development Lead, mentor, and evaluate volunteer operations leaders and managers. Establish performance expectations, and accountability frameworks for volunteer operations teams. Performance Measurement & Reporting Establish and monitor volunteer operations performance indicators, including coverage rates, compliance metrics, retention, CORE Program effectiveness, and outreach outcomes. Analyze data to inform capacity planning, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement. Provide regular reporting and insights to the COO and senior leadership Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Volunteer Management, Healthcare Management, Public Health, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in Volunteer management, preferably in nonprofit, healthcare, or humanitarian settings.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate effectively and build robust relationship and networks.
  • Ability to translate goals into strategic initiatives.
  • Analytical, strategic mindset capable of leveraging data analysis, reporting, and software solutions
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to maintain a valid driver's license.
